Over the past few months, many journalists and pundits have credited the power of Donald Trump’s endorsements with determining the winners of Republican primaries.
Trump has made 203 candidate endorsements in the 2022 election cycle so far, targeting state, congressional, gubernatorial and even local races.
Based on the numbers alone, receiving a “Trump bump” seems like a surefire way to win an election. So far, 94% of Trump’s favored candidates have won their Republican primaries.
But as a political scientist who studies voting and public opinion, I have my doubts about the true power of Trump’s endorsements. Instead, it is more likely that most of the candidates Trump has chosen to endorse were already on track to win their respective races.

I guess it's "change the talking point" time!
"Well, those candidates would've won anyway"
But remember Rob Portman endorsing Jane Timken (she came in 5th).
And remember all the senators and governors endorsing Jeb Bush (he was gone early)
But only NOW do endorsements not mean anything.
Funny, that!
Trump is attacked every day even though he is not even in office
BECAUSE HE IS IRRELEVANT!
Thank God almighty for Trump. And I mean that in the most literal sense.
LMAO man... the press can’t stand it!!!
it’s soooo funny to watch them bend logic into a pretzel trying to disparage Trump.
Of course, the leftist corollary is democrat endorsements absolutely effect an election.
Leftists just make up whatever reality they want and write about it.
what’s even funnier ... is visiting the liberal message board where in their alternative universe the Jan 6th hearings are going great and everyone associated with Trump is going to jail.
I am not sure for what LOL but they are all 100% positive!!
ROFL
Trump really broke these broke these folks. Lets just to the the GOP incumbents that voted to impeach Trump that lost to discredit this nonsense. Disappearing slowly but surely. Its hilarious. Gaslighting or denial.... its fun to watch these clowns debase themselves further.
Liberals are morons. They endorse like crazy and beg for endorsements, yet, here they are claiming conservative endorsements are not needed.
Endorsements from newspapers don’t matter.
Endorsements from senators don’t matter.
Endorsements from Obama don’t matter.
Endorsements from Trump matter. They matter a lot.
Nice try, yahoo. 😄
I don’t know how true the article is. But for me, endorsements only help me to steer way from candidates.
Here’s what I mean. Trump endorses Candidate A. Well, that’s nice. But I need to look over Candidate A for myself. Trump’s endorsement doesn’t mean much.
Bernie Sanders endorses Candidate B. Case closed. Avoid Candidate B like the plague.
Hmm. How are Bidens endorsements doing?
Nice try, Yahoo.
So some guy was 20% in the polls in third place, Trump endorses them and they shoot up overnight into first place with 48%, and Trump had nothing to do with it. Right.
In fact, before election night 2020, he comes on with his little "white tablet and sharpie," writes his usual newspaper columns explaining to us that the candidate who won this many votes as an incumbent, or the bell-wether counties, or certain key states or a percentage of the minority vote, etc. would win...hands down.
Trump did just what Karl Rove predicted he needed to do. Yet he lost.
covid and the massive amount of mail-in ballots combined with judges to refused to enforce state election laws all combined to deliver Biden a narrow victory.
IMO that was a one-off that will not be repeated.
Well, I’m sure it’s true that many of the people he endorsed would have won anyway. But not all of them.

Ian sures seems to be smoking some mighty good weed.
> I have no idea why FOX keeps him (Rove) on there. <
This should be explored on that TV show ‘Unsolved Mysteries’. I don’t watch Fox much anymore, but many of my friends and relatives do. Literally no one likes Rove. Yet there he is.
