Herschel Walker, Critic of Absentee Fathers, Has a Second Son He Doesn’t See
NY Slimes ^ | 6/14/22 | Maya King

Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee for Senate from Georgia, who has often spoken out against absentee fathers, particularly in Black households, on Tuesday publicly acknowledged having fathered a second son with whom he is not in contact.

The admission came in response to a report by The Daily Beast, which said it had confirmed the 10-year-old boy’s parentage but withheld his name and that of his mother. It said the child’s mother had sued Mr. Walker a year after giving birth to obtain a declaration of paternity and child support, and that the suit lasted until August 2014, when Mr. Walker was ordered to pay child support. The boy, by then more than 2 years old, took Mr. Walker’s last name.

Mr. Walker, who faces Senator Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, in November, has praised his relationship with his 22-year-old son, Christian, in interviews and campaign speeches.

At the same time, he has repeatedly criticized fatherless homes in Black communities: In a 2020 interview with the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, he called the absence of fathers “a major, major problem” in Black households and boasted of having been “like a father” to many young people in his hometown in Georgia.

And in a 2021 interview with the Black conservative media personalities Diamond and Silk, Mr. Walker lamented that “the father leaves in the Black family. He leaves the boys alone so they’ll be raised by their mom,” comparing the dynamic to family separations during slavery.

“If you have a child with a woman,” Mr. Walker continued in that interview, “even if you have to leave that woman — even if you have to leave that woman — you don’t leave that child.”

Obviously the MSM knives are out for Walker. Not great but who cares? Pretty sure all Senators have skeletons like this in their closets if you look close enough.

Yup. The hit pieces will be coming in a mile a minute. Funny how the Slimes isn’t digging into Warnock’s past to dig up dirt.

Why, he must be as clean as a newly fallen snow.

His point is still valid even though he failed to live up to it himself.

It's almost like the New York Times is just a partisan political machine ..........

Why that can't be. The New York Times is sooooo .... non-partisan. Or something.

There are lots of reasons why some family members don’t have contact with one another. Perhaps the mother doesn’t want her child to see him, for one example. The article was not exactly clear on that point. Hit piece.

Oh it’s pretty clear he’s a deadbeat dad - mom had to sue him for him to acknowledge paternity and pay child support. But so what? He’s not running for Pope. Nobody’s perfect.

He is rich.
I’m pretty sure gold diggers come out of the woodwork.
Probably trying to protect himself.

Remember all the Dems about Billy Jeff and Monica?

It’s just sex!

Look at all the Hollywood types that have had multiple abortions. All of them have children they don’t see.

Where are the NYT hit pieces on them?

If the woman had relations with anyone else even near the time for the insemination, he'd be a rich fool to sign up for 18-21 years of financial support without proof of paternity (assuming they weren't married). The excerpt failed to mention whether a DNA test confirmed the lineage, or whether the court assigned paternity based on some other factor.

Yes, it’s quite possible she doesn’t allow him to see the child. But the article says, “The boy, by then more than 2 years old, took Mr. Walker’s last name.” Obviously a two-year-old isn’t capable of picking a surname, so it was the mother’s choice to make clear Walker’s fatherhood. (Why do so many women give their fatherless child the sperm donor’s last name? I’ve never understood this.)

True. How many dads left versus how many got thrown out, because mom got a better deal from the state?

But my point was: You don't have to be perfect yourself to make a good point.

The deflection from the Left, who caused this epidemic of absent fathers, is entirely to be expected, unfortunately.

Giving the poor innocent little kid the sperm donor’s last name goes a long way to solidify the paternity suit in court.
