I love when the moon has a halo. Makes it seem even more mysterious. it’s still sort of behind clouds here, but they are thin, so could see it pretty well. There was a nice breeze outside even if it is still in the 80s.

sigh

Yo Ho, radu,

So here’s what I think. You, like TigerEagle, have the untrained, G-D given gift of a great eye for composition so He (NO SEXISM HERE, JUST ADHERENCE TO LONG ESTABLISHED COMMON CONVENTION! CAN’T BE TOO CAREFUL THESE DAYS.) further gifts you with things to look at. That’s why He pushed you out of the house when He did. I really believe that.

The Highwayman
By Alfred Noyes

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
Riding—riding—
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

One of my very favorite poems and images...that’s radu’s MOON!

A very pleasant good Wednesday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks Luvie for this morning's thread.

Boy that was a stumper,((LOL)) I only got 4 out of 12.

How's everyone doing this morning?

Howdy, TigerHawk!

Glad you enjoyed the moon shot.

I have to say I kinda miss taking photos with cameras that use film. I started out with Dad's Brownie Hawkeye when I was a kid and took a photography class when I was in junior high for the fun of it. Had an Insta-Matic for years, then got a nice Minolta. It had auto features but I liked to mess around with manual settings. Of course, you didn't know if you had successes or failures until the film was developed. LOL

I have a Nikon CoolPix now and love it. It has a killer zoom, which is what I was looking for when I went camera shopping. I enjoy taking nature pix and we have a lot of wildlife around the farm that I need a good zoom for. Can't get close to the critters or they'll spook. I never would have gotten a shot of this rare pretty girl if she'd seen me.

Well, we didn’t. But it’s ok tonight because we have no water in our city and the workers who are fixing the water main need to be able to keep working. It’s been a very long day.

Howdy EGC! ((hugs))

Glad you took the quiz. If you didn’t get a chance to watch those particular shows, it’d be hard for sure! Hope you and Giz had a great day at the lake.

I like the pretty halos created by high, thin clouds. This halo just makes the moon look a little fuzzy. The smoke must have moved out for now because there’s little halo at the moment.

I was surprised when I stepped out a few minutes ago and it had cooled off to an ALMOST comfy temp. The thermometer reads 73 but it feels warmer and the air seems to stick to the skin, even with a kiss of a breeze.

LOL! No need to step carefully. I’m not one of those fragile women who screams “sexist!!” at the drop of a hat, and there was nothing sexist in your statement. Thank you for the compliment.

When photographing nature, composition seems to be already there. Nature is a beautiful thing and makes it easy.

Now if it’s anything else - - people, buildings, etc. - - I’m not as successful. If TigerEagle pulls it off, she has a really good eye.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

LOL! You were just a wee one, or not born yet, when some of those shows were on TV.

Did you and Gizmo play it smart and head out to the lake earlier yesterday so you wouldn’t roast?

73 even with humidity sounds like heaven to me. I could probably feel that at 5am...but we both know that ain’t happening. LOL!

Yep, 1964 to be exact.

We had a spectacular visit to Chisolm Trail Park yesterday.

With a little humidity, 73 doesn’t feel too bad. We have more than a little.
It feels cooler in the house and the thermostat is set at 77. LOL

I’m glad you know what I was talking about when I ranted about the passing of film photography.

The moon shot was GREAT! What you see is what you got. Only the end result counts.

“Of course, you didn’t know if you had successes or failures until the film was developed.”

My first child was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. I was right there for the birth with a Nikon, Kodachrome, 50mm lens, and took 72 pics right through the entire birth process! Although I was quite experienced with developing and mounting slide film I knew that these were very important so I took them to a professional commercial lab. When I later went to pick them up the boss came out very apologetic and told me how sorry he was that they had mistakenly used the wrong chemicals and ruined them all. Both he, and the tech I had told that I would pay to have them hand processed, were genuinely sorry about the mistake.

I told them that if ripping their hearts out with my bare hands would restore the photos I would have gladly done so already, but since nothing could do so, that was just the breaks. They gave me two rolls of 36 exposure Kodachrome (LOL). I took the film and left without saying anything more.

With the old tech, you didn’t know what you got ‘til you had it in your hand. With the new tech, you see it right away, and just keep shooting ‘til you get what you want. It’s really much better now...but G-D’s gotta still gift ya with the eye. Ya just can’t learn that.

Your little feathered friend looks delicious!

Yep, you’re a young ‘un. LOL
I was around for all of them though I didn’t watch all of them.

Glad you two had a good outing.
It looks like your heat all moved over here so you’re in the clear. Just regular summertime over there.

There’s something about the quality of photos taken with film that can’t be beat. I don’t know if there’s any[lace to have film developed any more in our Podunk Nowhere town but that’s just as well. My poor Minolta bit the dust a few years ago.

It took several shots of the moon before getting the one I wanted. The convenience of digital. :-)

You must have been devastated when the photos you took of the birth were destroyed. I assume the building was still standing when you left so you handled it better than I could have.

HANDS OFF my pretty turkey!! LOL! She’s not up for grabs. Several of Hubby’s buddies have seen her here and know they are NOT to shoot her. Or the humongous tom she hangs out with. He’s a hoss! They’re newbies at the farm, as we haven’t seen them until the past couple of weeks. We hope they stay on the property because they’re safe here.

I wasn’t stepping easy with you, LOL. I was joking, goofing on the ever offended fem/libs, male and female alike...and every other gender they can come up with. If they weren’t so nasty and didn’t have such evil ways I’d just laugh at them and get rid of all my pins and voodoo dolls.

I don’t recall any compliment, only observations, and beliefs.

I agree with you about nature compositions. THERE THEY ARE!
THAT’S WHAT I MEANT ABOUT G-D GIVING YOU THINGS TO SEE. I’M AMAZED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE THAT DON’T SEE THE WORLD AROUND THEM!

Now that you’ve mentioned it, TigerEagle shoots almost exclusively the natural world.

I used to do a lot of that, (’cause we’re all awed by that), but I also enjoyed looking at, and capturing people, just being people, and things that made the eye follow to where they led. Hard to explain. I just saw things. I’ll try to figure out how I can post some of the things I’ve captured as pics. Ya gotta give it a while...maybe quite a while.

I’ve gotta crawl to the crypt. I’m beat. Catch ya next time.

Again, GREAT PHOTO!
