ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — A boil water notice has been put into effect for the Ector County Utility District by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
All customers will have to boil their water before consumption. Some of those actions include washing hands/face, drinking and brushing teeth.
This is a result of a major leak in the City of Odessa water system. ECUD purchases water directly from the City of Odessa. Low distribution pressure and a water outage has been caused due to the shutdown.

Beer has water in it.
LOL! I’ll keep that in mind. So does diet coke.
Thought it was a Ukraine thread, allowing for spelling errors.
So there’s SOME water, at least. Boil some water and get buckets to put it in to set aside for the kitties to drink. Save your bottled water for yourselves. :-)
And pray they’re able to repair the break quickly.
Have they investigated the possibility that it is due to the Russians messing up the targeting of the missiles that they meant to hit Odessa in the Ukraine?
Oddessa?!?!??!
I’d blame the Russians.
HTH did Biden manage that? Dang, he’s good!
Infrastructure like this and were sending hundreds of billions in aid to Ukraine and countries all over the damn planet. These America last policies should not be tolerated.
I wouldn’t drink tap water from Odessa if you paid me. They even tell the illegals not to drink the water!
Sounds like a plan!
Yeah, I wouldn’t either. But we do have to bathe and hand-wash in it, and brush teeth, and wash clothes, and flush the convenience. All of which we can’t do right now. For at least 18 more hours. At least. And there are zero bodies of water within 60 miles of us.
I hear ya. And we’re just a very small cog in a very large broken down wheel.
We have 40 bottles of water and 1 2-gallon jug of water + a partial one that’s in the fridge to make tea with. If we run out of that, then we’ll boil water if necessary for the kitties. I monitor their dishes, and they don’t drink that much during a day. Their choice. These kitties aren’t going to do without, that’s for sure!
LOL! I know...should have put the TX after Odessa, but didn’t.
There is NO water in the water lines. That “boil water” thing was from early on when there still was a bit.
It’s kaput till those lines are repaired, the plant put back on-line and the pressure restored. That takes a lot of time.
Kind of what I was thinking, hell they were boiling it before the pipe broke. I’ll say this, it’s far better than it was 50 years ago.
That should get you through as long as there are no delays in repairs. That’s where the “?” always comes in. And then there’s the question of how long it will take for the water to come out of the taps clean again.
That’s how my brain works and why I’m a “better safe than sorry” person. LOL
Hopefully it won’t take too long.
BUMMMMMMMER!!!
So sorry to hear this.
