From the article:

Beyond that, it probably is a matter of retaining some credibility for the NYT.

The NYT has no credibility left to retain. Ditto for the entire MSM.

The Democrats will ask Biden to not run due to his age.

Then they can use the same argument against Trump.

Definitely Newsom. And he's keeping a lower profile lately, as the recession unfolds. They'll construct some fantasy version of California's economy to credit him with and he will be heralded by the MSM as the Second Coming of Kennedy.

The only delicate issue the Democrats may have is how they will justify nominating Yet Another White Male - but by then the economic situation will be so bad that Black Lives won't Matter quite so much...

Agreed - pretty much what I’m thinking.

I would put money on that as well.

Remember in time leading up to the 1976 primaries, after the shellacking of McGovern in 1972, the little known Jimmy Carter emerged from a crowded field to become the presidential nominee in 1976. He was not on anyone’s radar at the point in time we are now, in June of the year of mid term elections. Yet he became their nominee.

Similarly, in 1992, Bill Clinton was at first little known nationally, but emerged from those primary field as the nominee.

So it is very possible, that someone nobody is thinking of right now, could step forward for 2024. Assuming the Democrat powers that be have decided that both Joe and Kamala should go.

Joe needs to say he’s not running for re-election, but still serve out his term. If he were to resign, then Kamala becomes the incumbent president going into 2024, and how would the powers that be dislodge the incumbent president seeking election in 2024? That would get messy.

"My Dad calls him Pete Buttf***er."

I call him Pete Bootyjuice.
But I think your Dad's idea is more to the point!

More recently, the same was for 0bama! If he hadn’t been such a sniveling sneak and used dirty Chicago Politics* to get his Senate seat there, we’d have never heard from him again!

*Had SEALED divorce records of his opponent (Jack Ryan, R) opened and used them to smear him.

Ann Coulter covered all the dirty details. You know, back when she was a conservative and not just a shill. ;)

“And that’s how Obama became a U.S. senator. He destroyed both his Democratic primary opponent and his Republican general election opponent with salacious allegations about their personal lives taken from “sealed” court records.”

Not wishful thinking - just reality hitting them upside the head.

They know they have a disaster in their hands and want to throw him under the bus and get someone else to replace him.
