Former Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed, who spent nearly his entire career playing alongside a friend and fellow player charged with murder, believes that the $100,000 fine the Washington Commanders levied against defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio is “not enough.”
On Friday, the Washington Commanders fined Del Rio $100,000 for referring to the January 6 Capitol riots as a “dust-up.”
Del Rio had made the “dust-up” comment while addressing a tweet in which he questioned the emphasis the left has placed on the January 6 riots while seeming to not possess the same level of interest in prosecuting those who rioted across the country in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd.
Though Del Rio apologized for calling the riots a “dust-up,” Ron Rivera, the Commanders head coach and longtime friend of Del Rio, publicly criticized his coach and friend for the comments while calling January 6 an act of “domestic terrorism.”

People are willing to believe the truth for its own sake. Lies have to be enforced.
Big mistake.
The left sees an apology for what Gibbs always said it was, a sign of weakness.
You can never grovel enough to satisfy the howling mob.
Del Rio apologized for telling the truth that hurt the feelings of the woke left.
what a dick!!!
It is people precisely like them that we require the 2nd Amendment to protect ourselves against. Especially when people like him, and there are plenty of them, get their filthy rat-claws on the levers of power in the government. He is a racist hypocrite.
Sports are entertainment, when people tire of one form of entertainment, they will change what they support, and the owners will adapt.
Bad owners always lose, regardless of the business.
Pro sports will exist as long as there is a capitalist society, if that ends, the pro sports business model will not be sustainable, but then we will be back to the Christians vs the lions.
Sad one can’t express their feelings. The Washington Politically Correct Woke Redskin Commanders suck.
Punishing him with a fine will never be enough. He will now be punished in every way possible. If he makes the mistake of apology, he will be all but destroyed forever.
I hope Del Rio quits, the NFL goes completely bankrupt, and that particular sports avenue completely disappears.
True, but the right never turns the same treatment the left dishes out back at them. Instead they take pride in the so called” high road” while the left laughs as they plan the next staged smear attack or slander.
Being on the losing end that won’t defend itself all the time is why the GOP is a terrible political party. Probably is true they are just a weak branch of the RAT party to make it look like we have a “democracy”.
Washington would be appalled at how his good name is being associated with all of these disasters. I move to remove it. Call the city the District of Columbia. Call the team the D.C. Commanders or commies if you will. Take Washington out of it.
Yep.
If you are dealing with Leftists, when you are right (and even sometimes when you are wrong) you must never, ever, ever apologize to Leftists for anything.
Ever.
They don’t view it as conciliatory or principled action on your part.
They view it as weakness, and it always, always, always invites more attacks from them.
Always.
SOOOOO—You can express YOUR opinion-—but ONLY if it matches the one our “leaders” want???
New stadiums at this time is a bad investment because people are starting to realize their teams are catering to the woke crowd and not to everyone. Our Governor DeSantis said no to a stadium/recreation center for the Rays. Good for him. Taxpayers should never ever have to pay for new stadiums. If these teams can’t get enough folks to attend their games, it’s on the teams, not the taxpayer.
I gotta seriously lay off the woke sports again.
I hope I win Powerball.
Good point of the doubled standard. Kaepernick never got fined.
I hope you do too.
Remember me when... Smile...
