BALTIMORE — A protest outside of the Baltimore City Schools administration building almost turned violent this afternoon as many passionate people voiced their concerns about the grade changing procedures affecting thousands of students.
Although many people believe there was wrong doing, city school leaders insist that they did nothing wrong.
What started out as a peaceful protest in front of the city schools administration building turned into an ambush as some people pointed the blame at city school leaders.
“ Somebody has to be held responsible and somebody has to be held accountable,” one protestor said.
That was the dominant message during a protest held in response to the report that found more than 12 thousand students at city schools had their grades changed from failing to passing over the course of three years.
“ Our children are being miseducated in the school system and we definitely need to look at the curriculum as well,”.
Organizers of then protest like Michael Johnson blamed the city school leaders for what they believe is a system that’s not academically challenging children like they should. Some of the other protestors were so passionate they ambushed those city school leaders who were in attendance. At one-point things got so heated one of the protestors appeared extremely angry and when following city school leaders inside the administration building he had to be escorted out.

If the people of Baltimore are protesting over failing grades being changed to passing ones, that’s a positive sign.

It either turned violent or it didn't.
The upset parents understand that the failing kids will now be in direct competition with their passing children for a limited number of minimum wage fast-food jobs.
Rather than send our kids to public schools to be used as targets for the RATS’ upcoming elections, why not just keep them at home and give them a diploma after they turn 16.

Maybe it isn’t, or maybe it is. The people there are certainly paying for one that does.
One might be inclined to say that they are handing out grades in a very niggardly fashion...
For what it’s worth, I’ve read article here on FR where Baltimore high schools are graduating kids who are basically illiterate—reading at 3rd-grade level at best. Math scores are even lower.
If the kids’ parents don’t care, why should I?

Baltimore has about the highest per student expenditure in the country and at best they turn out functional illiterates.
The entire administration needs to be fired, prosecuted or tarred and feathered.
Or all three.
Of course, the best these idiots can think of is to spend more money.
I get your point, but still...as a parent...it hurts a little to see those children abandoned.
There were no examples of violent behaviour in article. Just one guy following school admin into school and being escorted out. Are they lying to portray parents as Domestic Terrorists?
