On May 27, 2022, at Clay’s Wellston Food Market in Missouri, next to the Illinois border on the east side of St. Louis, a man “openly carrying” an AR15 type rifle, under a jacket, with a “gun sleeve” on the rifle, was accosted by an armed man who approached him from behind and demanded the rifle and the jacket. From ksdk.com:
Major Ron Martin with the North County Police Cooperative spoke to 5 On Your Side after the shooting. He said that moments before the shooting, a customer with a rifle had entered the grocery store.
Martin said the patron was “open carrying” the rifle in a gun sleeve underneath an article of clothing and did not threaten anyone while inside the store.
The robbery did not go well for the robber, who turned out to be a career criminal. It seems the owner of the rifle objected to the theft. Strenuously. With gunfire. From fox2now.com:
According to court documents obtained by FOX2, surveillance footage captured Booker putting a gun to the head of the rifle-toting individual before he took the AR-15 and a jacket. The footage also showed him wielding a pistol he possessed, in addition to the stolen AR-15 rifle while several others were present.
Police say the victim of the stolen rifle fired shots at Booker, who was struck multiple times. That victim left the scene, but police believe another man returned moments later and also shot the man who took the rifle.
Officers found Booker laying in front of the store with several gunshot wounds. He was treated for his injuries at a hospital. Authorities served a warrant for Booker’s arrest on Tuesday. Booker is scheduled for an arraignment hearing in the case for June 6.

I was talking about the man carrying the weapon into the store and the gangster who decided there was no risk in taking it from him.
I only voiced my opinion as to why the ‘victim’ would have carried the weapon into the store in the first place AND that this country is riddled with SOROS-funded DAs who are there to do exactly what I opined - charge/harass/hamper a reasonable man trying to do something reasonable when it comes to firearms. IOW, the gangster’s opinion has no merit here at all.

We were talking about the gangster carrying the rifle into the store.
“IOW, the gangster’s opinion has no merit here at all.”
I made no reference to his opinion. I just stated that this rifle-toting gangster doesn’t care.
IU have old eyes, but the ‘rifle’ appears under 26 inches, so it is either an any other weapon or an AR pistol.
yup, and i’m surprised because Dean writes better than this
“Not if you believe, like the writer, that the guns are responsible. Then everyone shot with a gun was shot “by the gun” and is therefore the gun’s victim.”
About Dean Weingarten:
Dean Weingarten has been a peace officer, a military officer, was on the University of Wisconsin Pistol Team for four years, and was first certified to teach firearms safety in 1973. He taught the Arizona concealed carry course for fifteen years until the goal of Constitutional Carry was attained. He has degrees in meteorology and mining engineering, and retired from the Department of Defense after a 30 year career in Army Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation.
“yup, and i’m surprised because Dean writes better than this”
If he had seen the video Dean might not have written the article!
And this is the part where TerslyHemorroidal quote Jim Robinson "No profanity, no racism, no personal attacks..."... LOL...
He's like a one-man Home Owner Association...LOL LOL LOL
You must be SO MUCH FUN at parties..... LOL
I was defending Dean against Spktyr’s lies. You support Spktyr trashing Dean?
I support mocking your stick-up-your-butt attitude and presentation! THAT, I support!
And my point is the gangster’s opinion wasn’t/isn’t worth talking about at all, period. While we’re at ‘statements,’ I refer you back to my original thought about why one might carry in that fashion. Take it for what it’s worth. It certainly didn’t need to be clouded by what the perp thought or thinks.
You might have been talking about a ‘gangster’ carrying a rifle into the store but from what I read that isn’t the case.

Just saying ... When a gangster conceals his AR-15 under his coat he is not worried about arguments over how a law in interpreted.
I thought the 20MM Lahti worked better for obliterating flying objects (like clay pigeons ;>)?
Tell me. Exactly what part of that says to you the 'gangster' trying to take money and the rifle says he carried an 'open carry' rifle?
I suggest you go back and carefully reread the article.
The article is confusing.
It could be that the guy “open-carrying” the ‘sleeved’ rifle was trying to avoid leaving it visible in his vehicle while he dipped into the store.
