June 8, 2022 at 6:00 a.m. EDT Christina Pushaw, press secretary for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), has become a prominent protector of her boss and a fierce critic of the media. (Paul Hennessey/SOPA Images/Shutterstock)

A spokeswoman for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) this week registered as a foreign agent of a former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, belatedly detailing work she performed for the politician between 2018 and 2020.

The spokeswoman, Christina Pushaw, made the disclosure following contact from the Justice Department, according to her attorney, Michael Sherwin. She began her work in 2018 as a volunteer in the post-Soviet country, Sherwin said, and was ultimately paid $25,000 over the course of two years. She received her first payment, of $10,000 in October 2018, in cash, according to her filing. She stayed for free for six weeks in an apartment owned by a Saakashvili associate in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.

“Her efforts included writing op-eds, reaching out to supporters and officials, and advocating on his behalf in Georgia and in the United States,” Sherwin said. “The work ended in 2020. Ms. Pushaw was notified recently by the DOJ that her work on behalf of Mr. Saakashvilli likely required FARA registration. Ms. Pushaw filed for the registration retroactively as soon as she was made aware.”

Tony Podesta failed to register as a foreign agent and was let to file retroactively as well as I remember. On the other hand, poor Paul Manafort had forgotten to do the same thing and the DOJ came after him with a vengeance.

But the anti Trump pro DeSantis Brigade told me we need to “switch horses.”

Nope, I’m sticking with Trump in the 2024 Republican Primaries.

In fact if Trump isn’t the nominee in 2024, I’ll vote for him as a “write in” independent in the General Election.

I was hoping this anti Trump stupidity would disappear with the Biden/Harris virus destroying America.

Apparently I was wrong, these nerds & dorks are still pulling strings in the party.

She should be immediately fired. I’m sorry there’s no excuse for anyone being a foreign agent and not disclosing it, unless you’re actually a spy or propagandist. Shame on her for risking DeSantis reputation.

REPORT ACCUSES HILLARY ADVISER WHO RAN INTEL SERVICE OF ILLEGALLY LOBBYING FOR VLADIMIR PUTIN ALLY

The Hillary Clinton confidant who was caught running a clandestine intelligence service for her may have also illegally lobbied for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ally in the nation of Georgia.

According to a Gawker report, Sidney Blumenthal, the top Clinton confidant, and “another former official from Bill Clinton’s administration were secretly lobbying the secretary of state on behalf of a billionaire in the former Soviet state of Georgia who was seeking closer ties with Putin’s Russia—seemingly in violation of a federal law designed to prevent foreign powers from covertly wielding influence within the United States.”

Blumenthal “passed along a note from John Kornblum, an international lawyer who had served as ambassador to Germany under Bill Clinton,” to Clinton that lobbied on behalf of Oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, a Georgian billionaire who “led the opposition Georgian Dream party, which called for closer relations with Russia.” At the time, Ivanishvili “was opposing the incumbent President Mikheil Saakashvili, who had enjoyed U.S. support.” Two years ago, a hacker named Guccifer released some of Blumenthal’s emails, which Gawker has been reviewing.

The memo makes clear that Kornblum was “working with the political party in Georgia opposing Saakashvili”and, according to Gawker, “was a full-throated plea for Clinton to warn Saakashvili not to crack down on Georgian Dream before the elections.” Kornblum also reportedly “passed along a personal letter to Clinton from Ivanishvili himself, in which Ivanishvili accused Saakashvili of undemocratically attacking his party and asking for Clinton’s support: ‘The Georgian people are waiting for a clear signal that America understands and supports their dreams for democracy.’”

In addition to that it was from an ex-president, who hadn’t held power since 2013 and was a persona non grata at the power levers in Georgia when that consulting happened.

To me it looks like a PR professional doing a job in her field for a private person.

Exactly. It’s remarkable that so many Freepers fail to grasp that Ron DeSantis and his political team are establishment Republicans and globalist tools from top to bottom.

Say, what? You obviously have not been following DeSantis who has created the best laws in the nation. Then again, I have no expectations of any Canadian such as yourself.

1. I'm not a Canadian.

2. I heard the same thing about George W. Bush in 2000.

Go and track down whatever information you can find about Ron DeSantis' background. If you read it without knowing who it is you're reading about, you'd swear it was the perfect character out of central casting for a role as a "Deep State" political operative.

You’re a rather stupid and arrogant idiot to think only you knows who DeSantis is, yet, you also have him wrong. You don’t have a clue who he is or his resume. You just mouthed off and got busted doing it.

1. I know his resume very well.

2. I didn't mouth off about anything. I've had reservations about the guy for months.

If he's nominated for president he'll get my vote, but I will have absolutely no enthusiasm for him. I think he'd be a thousand times better than Mitt Romney or John McCain, but that's about it. Frankly, if he was elected president I predict it would be about six months before he was given the moniker "George W. DeSantis" here on FreeRepublic.

Grow a spine. Pushaw has disclosed this from Day One. It’s been a feature of multiple on-line biographies about her. Her foreign work prior to joining the governor’s team was a secret to nobody, least of all Ron DeSantis.

The Left is out to get her because she’s very effective at what she does and she endlessly points out liberal hypocrisy to Twitter bluechecks.

Christina Pushaw is a pitbull and she’ll make an awesome Press Secretary for President DeSantis.
