Ron DeSantis beat Trump soundly in a straw poll —again— on how much conservatives would like each man to be their 2024 candidate

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed another clean win over former President Donald Trump in a recent straw poll of self-identified conservative conference-goers who were asked who they'd like to be the 2024 presidential nominee.

The poll was taken during the Western Conservative Summit, held in Denver, Colorado, on June 3 and 4. According to its website, the summit aims to "motivate those conservative activists who are in the trenches, to convene and network together, and to educate on key issues, both equipping volunteers as well as training a new younger generation of conservatives."

“[DeSantis] gives us the MAGA policies, and the ability to get things done”

That post of yours is information filled.

Regarding the passage in quotes above, I don’t know enough about DeSantis to know that those thing are true. Is he ready for the national stage?

I can never excuse Trump for his abrasiveness. He hid his accomplishments behind the abrasiveness. My wife irrationally hates the sight of him.

Possibly Trump will be himself and is willing to let the chips fall where they may.

If, with his help, we can get majorities in both houses and a republican president, he will have made a contribution even greater than another Trump presidency.

Let’s all unite behind getting President Trump back in the Oval Office in 2024.

The only coherent part of your post. DeSantis is solid.

Trump should be appointed the head of the Justice Department. Justice will be so sweet!

Trump runs in 2024 with DeSantis as his VP. Rights the 2020 wrong against Trump. Then in 2026, Trumps steps down, enjoying the rest of his life, and DeSantis gets to be POTUS for up to 10 years. That would give DeSantis 2 years of high profile as VP and 2 years experience in the big seat before his first run in 2028.

Trump should keep making noise he’s going to run so the Dems will concentrate their fire on him giving Desantis a clean run in 2024.

I also strongly think Trump got screwed in 2020. In addition to the overwhelming evidence provided by “2000 mules,” we are suppose to believe:
-all five battleground states (GA, PA, MI, WI and AZ), supposedly without any coordination, counted all the walk in votes first, then all closed around mid-night.
- After everybody left, the Dems open back up and counted mail-in votes all night and sha-zam, Biden wins.
- There is video where GA Dem counters pull cartons of ballots from under cloth covered tables. They were unfolded mail-in ballots!
- In the five battleground states, Biden out performed Hillary and even Obama from 2012 and 2016.
- However, in the other 45 states, Biden was trounced by both Hillary and Obama.
- In PA there were over 90K votes that only the top of the ticket was marked (the Dems were in a hurry).
I could go on and on, but I think you can see why I have no doubt that the election was stolen. Someone (I suspect Obama and his people) coordinated this fraud.

Outside of Florida and conservative consumers of news, the rest of the country doesn’t know who Governor Desantis is, which is why Trump HAS to be the 2024 nominee. In addition to the lack of name recognition, Desantis doesn’t have the deep pockets that Trump has, and no amount of fundraising is going to compete with the billions that already backs Trump.
Then there’s the issue of personality. Phony conservatives say that Trump’s aggressive style is objectionable, but the reality is that Trump’s style of campaigning is what works. Trump ran as a republican but campaigned like a democrat, meaning that when he was attacked, he struck back just as hard. It’s a campaign style that works like a charm, which is why democrats hate Trump so much.
The typical RINO response to democrat attacks is to apologize and ask to be forgiven, which is why they lose national elections. They are seen as weak, which they are, and RINOs can’t get the ball over the finish line, like JEB! in 2016, or Romney in 2012, or McCain in 2008, or Dole in 1996, or Bush 41 in 1992. They cannot carry the base of the party in national elections, and they refuse to fight back. The RINO political tactic of ‘gentleman politics’ is a loser, and truth be told, they’re not conservative anyway.
These polls that supposedly show Desantis triumphing over Trump is a trick by the GOP Establishment, a great big herd of RINOs.
This is being pushed by the establishment because they are 100% certain that they can steal the nomination from Desantis if they can somehow trick people into thinking that Trump can’t win again, and force him not to run.
Not going to work.

Yes, he has. He’s my governor. I follow him quite closely. He’s stated on a few occasions that he is NOT running in 2024 if President Trump is running.

He’s my governor as well. When did he state this? I’ll stand corrected if I’m wrong. All I can find on the issue is that Roger Stone is angry because DeSantis has NOT ruled out running if Trump runs.

"I’d rather have DeSantis stay in FL and President Trump take another 4 in the WH...
THEN have DeSantis run in 2028 and take over from there"

Agreed, but there is no way the deep state and leftists (I know, almost entirely the same people) will ever allow Trump to get back into the White House. It simply will never be allowed to happen, no matter what it takes.

It’s true. DeSantis said he would not compete against Trump in 2024 because he feels Trump deserves the nomination because he was wronged. Very honorable.

Trump has two big negatives..his age and that he will immediately become a lightening rod for the media’s vitriol. The GOP needs new blood to carry on the swamp draining started by Trump.

“Will the democrats give DeSantis the Trump treatment ?”

An excellent question. And the answer is yes, absolutely. But, at least DeSantis will not be giving them the ammunition to attack. They’ll have to create their own ammunition.

I hope DeSantis runs and Trump supports him. We’ve already got one “old man” in the White House. That sure is working out well. Right.

By the way, the greatest president in my lifetime was Reagan. Hew was 77 when he left office and already showing a few signs of dementia/Alzheimers — which finally took him out.

Trump at 78 would be 82 if elected and when his term ended. Probably too old. But I can’t imagine him or anyone else being worse than Xiden (although Carter was close).
