China sends three astronauts to complete space station

Beijing (AFP) – China on Sunday launched a rocket carrying three astronauts on a mission to complete construction on its new space station, the latest milestone in Beijing's drive to become a major space power.

The trio blasted off in a Long March-2F rocket at (0244 GMT) from the Jiuquan launch center in northwestern China's Gobi desert, said state broadcaster CCTV, with the team to spend six months expanding the Tiangong space station.

Tiangong, which means "heavenly palace," is expected to become fully operational by the end of the year.

China's heavily promoted space programme has already seen the nation land a rover on Mars and send probes to the Moon.

The Shenzhou-14 crew is tasked with "completing in-orbit assembly and construction of the space station," as well as "commissioning of equipment" and conducting scientific experiments, state-run CGTN said Saturday.

The propaganda is meant to hide the military application. Therefore we chose names from mythology to excite the bationalism of modern China,

“Heavenly poalace” really means a platform whichi will be used to wipe out US SPace Force defence systems for the West.

Traditionally the Taoists beleived in an Emporer who resided in Heaven, and that Heaven was populted by humans who had evolved into lesser gods and immortals.

The name Heaven; P;ace disguises the true name whichi should be “Poisonous Spider.”

They have 50 more launch missions in the next year, to expand their high ground, it will be as large as ISS, all shiny and new, and no shared rides.

Who doesn’t think there will be military applications?

Remember it was Dear Leader Obama who dismantled the shuttle program and pivioted NASA resources to “Muslim outreach” and monitoring “climate change”

Remember it was Clinton who greenlighted Doral to supply CCP with advanced avionics and missile technology in exchange for campaign cash. China’s space program before that was no better than an Estes rocket kit.

Who gives a crap about the past, it’s dead and buried, like NASA, keep the robotic missions and scrap manned spaceflight, its a total waste now.

Scientific - Sure, they can have some, mostly testing out zero-g manufacturing and such that can not be done on earth.

Military - Less than you might think, pretty much anything you could do with a space station, such as reconnaissance, could be done much easier and cheaper with an unmanned satellite.

Propaganda - Oh of course, especially for a country like China. Building and operating a Space Station is a big deal and shows the rest of the world that China is ready to play with the big dogs in space (that being the US and Russia).

“Is China going to ask other countries for help durin emergencies?”

More than likely...exert some sort of extortion tactic to gain their help.

The space station armed with nukes could deliver a nuke in 1/2 to 1/3 the time of an ICBM launch. It is already in space. The ISS travels around the planet several times a day. The ChiCom station probably does too if it is not in a geosynchronous orbit.

This was one of the reasons that both the Soviets and the US signed a treaty banning nukes in space. Nukes could be launched too quickly to defend. The question is whether China would respect the treaty.

I thought that the no nukes in space treaty was to prevent things like multi-gigaton fusion bombs in space, which could be exploded just after dropping out of low orbit and light all flammable material over much of a continent. I guess that space station construction might be used to conceal assembly of the device in space.

That too.

How hard would it be to send a few nukes to the station as a “resupply” mission.

China will follow the treaty. Until they decide not to.

How come this isn’t in the US MSM? They should be crowing about this major accomplishment of the CCP? They could even name the station Hunter Biden One. In the end we paid for it! I wonder if it could drop bombs on the USA or help them in Taiwan? Or Russia in Ukraine?
