The spin from Australia and other nations sort of like with the Ukraine drumbeat coming from the UK and other nations that Russia is failing being repeated here.

It claims China is failing in the South Pacific because a comprehensive deal was not agreed to in Fiji a few days ago.

China is doing quite well in the South Pacific they did cut a security deal with the Solomon Islands the other month.

Other deals on other matters cut in Tonga last weekend and now this visit to Vanuatu today.

China has breached the wall of the First island chain, and is rampaging freely across the South Pacific and Indian Ocean. And our Navy is busy planting grass in salt marshes and clutching pearls about climate change.

I seem to remember that Vanuatu doesn’t comply with Western ideas about money laundering and total lack of financial privacy. I may be cozying up to China so it isn’t frozen out of international banking completely.

My friends the world is getting smaller. Crowded too. The fish just may be more valuable than oil. You gotta eat before you can drive. China will not run out of people. Their leaders would welcome a selective population bust of which they can control. Stop selling them our farmland.

[SENTENCE 1] Vanuatu and China have always respected each other, treated each other as equals and established solid mutual trust.

[SENTENCE 2] China always pays attention to Vanuatu's needs and gives priority to helping Vanuatu improve people's livelihood and build infrastructure...

Sentence 2 puts the lie to Sentence 1. If Red China helps Vanuatu "improve people's livelihood and builkd infrastructure", that is NOT a relationship of equals, as Vanuati does not do the same from Red China.

At best, Red China would be a benevolent uncle taking a paternalistic or patronising, condescending role. Or, they could also be taking the role of a John with Vanuatu as the whore. Or, they might just be the international equivalent of a mobster racket demanding "insurance protection" money from those within its sphere. But this is NOT a relationship of equals.

China will not run out of people.

They ARE going to suffer a dramatic loss of young Chinese people due to the implementation of the ONE-CHILD policy. It will take 20 years to kick in, but its baked in now, and little can be done about it.

China is like solar panels. Install them, promise lower energy bills for the lifetime of the contract. If and the the system fails within 20 years the solar company has dibs on the house. They’ll deal only with home owners, a guarantee they’ll get paid. Pretty smart wouldn’t you say?

Like student loans the government pays in the end.

And when the solar system doesn’t work any more, after 25 or 30 years, you have to get pay to get rid of or replace the old panels and inverter box, etc.
