UVALDE, Tex. — Pedro “Pete” Arredondo sat before the Uvalde school board last year and let members know what the school system police force needed to be ready to face an active shooter. The pandemic had cut into trainings for his six-member department, the chief said, and while officers had completed a program the previous summer, they needed more — as many as possible.
“It’s just like golf, if you play once a year, in six months you’re just not all that great,” Arredondo said, according to a video posted on YouTube of the March 2021 meeting. He stressed that he wanted neighboring law enforcement agencies to have a sense of the layout of school campuses in the small city of 15,000. If something major were to happen, he predicted, off-duty personnel would arrive and be part of the response.
Last week, his force’s readiness and his leadership of the small department were tested when an 18-year-old with an assault rifle stormed an elementary school, killing 19 children and two teachers inside a locked classroom at Robb Elementary School. It took well over an hour for police, led by Border Patrol tactical agents, to burst in and kill the gunman.
According to state police, Arredondo, in his role as incident commander, told officers to wait for backup and better equipment before rushing the classroom, despite protocols developed since the 1999 Columbine school massacre that say police should confront mass shooters as soon as possible.
Now a grieving community is scrutinizing Arredondo and his role in the shooting, finding themselves divided over whether one of their own made a fateful decision that may have cost children’s lives.

Did this guy resign yet? Any honorable LEO would have by now.
If he took a class on how to prepare for a mass shooter event, he should ask for his money back.
I know, right? He has two jobs with the city and is carrying on with both!
Doesn’t really matter if he resigns at this point, he’s joining the city council soon and will have to leave the PD. He’s not likely going to resign from the council but probably won’t run for re-election, though I’d wonder if there is the option of a recall. The bigger problem is he’s now stonewalling the DPS investigation.
Pedro “Pete” Arredondo must have gotten all his jabs and booster shots. Resulting in mental rot, to where you don’t send officers in as children are bleeding out.
Even with motivated and a reasonably fast response, it will be too late to avoid double digit body counts.
It would seem to me that job one would be to do anything to disrupt the shooter's plans or actions. Every moment he/she is thinking-about and better yet reacting-to you and what your people are doing is time he/she is not doing his/her thing - which is killing innocent people.
All I know is that the local police here in York, PA conducted exercises in actual school buildings using ex-cops as the attackers.
They put out the active shooter call to all law enforcement in the area who responded got the gear out of their vehicles and went into the buildings to take out the shooters.

I don’t understand this at all. Why was this fool the incident commander? Sure, the shooter was in a school, and Arredondo was the school police chief. But the state police have jurisdiction over every last thing in the state. And city police have jurisdiction over every last thing in the city.
A school building is not some foreign embassy. Why didn’t the real police take over the instant they arrived? Go tell Arredondo to sit in his car and listen to the radio.
And tehn he mase sure nobody helped because he’sa Beto donor and hsi cult needs more dead kids to exploit.
He was probably stunned that when the school shooting started, someone was actually shooting.
“Huh? That’s never happened before”.
An honorable man would have bought a sword and fallen on it already.

The Demonrats and their propaganda papers are supporting this guy. It’s clear he’s up to his eyeballs in this false-flag action. He must be OWNED by the FBI.
Then he booted it
Prepared for it and mission accomplished. It happened.
Wait, I don’t understand. An active shooter call was sent out and police showed up to stop the shooters, who were role playing. How did the role players avoid getting shot?
I admit to not recalling all details but of course you can use blanks or mock gear I would guess but the message cops and the schools wanted to communicate to parents out there was one of a quick response.
The exercise used two ex-cops one male and one female as the “active shooters”.
From what heard today there was no tactical unit that went in to confront the shooter. It was an off duty border patrol agent who was getting a haircut 40 miles away. He borrowed the barber’s shotgun and drove 40 miles to the school. He went in and shot the scumbag with his shotgun. He supposedly had no tactical training.
