The fentanyl experience is devastating—and it’s hollowing out families and communities all across our country. News accounts shows drug deaths have spiked everywhere. The year I lost my sister, 2016, more than 65,000 people overdosed and died. That’s skyrocketed to more than 100,000 people during the 12-month period ending April 2021. That’s nearly 300 people each day. It takes only 2 milligrams to be lethal. That’s not even enough to cover the year on the front of the penny in your pocket.
Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45, according to Families Against Fentanyl. It killed more people last year than suicide, car accidents, or gun violence; and the number of fatalities has more than doubled in 30 states in just two years, more than tripled in 15 states, and increased almost five fold in six states.

Sorry for your loss, Andrew, but you are overlooking the fact that using recreational drugs is a CHOICE. Bad choices frequently have bad outcomes. Your sister CHOSE to take that risk and it killed her.
My son’s friend died a few months ago after taking a fake Percocet for his birthday celebration. Kids being poisoned daily and hardly anyone mentions it.
It’s terrifying if you have kids and I’ve let mine know in no uncertain terms that buying drugs of the streets WILL kill them.
It’s been reported that it is coming from China, where it’s being added or substituted for other substances. Horrendously deadly even in teeny, teeny amount. People don’t know they are taking it. This is biological warfare.

What happens when they kick up Opium War II even more? Instead of street drugs they start tainting blood pressure medication, antibiotics or generic Tylenol? How much do the drug companies test their imports? Could China take out a million Americans in one month?
Knowingly taking drugs other than those prescribed for you is like repeatedly playing Russian roulette; eventually you're dead.
This is so terrible!
And nobody does anything.
Very little in news, no action from Brandon team.
But they are so concerned about guns, which are statistically nothing comparing to this crime!
And, most of the dead are the teenagers and young people. Our CHILDREN!
The portion is the poison. Water can kill you.
Hmmm...
wonder where all this fentanyl is manufactured?
About 1900 people (rounding down ) overdose on fentanyl every week in the U.S. as per CDC 2021 statistics.
Yes.
Trump knew and stated this.
I think it covers the full spectrum - from first time useres, moderate and those fully addicted. Not to mention those who unkowingly come in pysical contact twith Fentanyl. It’s very dangerous.
Also drug pushers lace other drugs with Fentanyl because the drug is so much easier to transport and buy. Plus it then gets new users addicted to it.
No matter how it’s described it’s a killer drug.
A gal who use to live nearby me went through a seperation from her husband and tried drug use ‘for the first time’ via her brother. They found her in bed dead.
Drugs are a risk no matter what you take.
I just kicked out a family from our rental home here on the farm. Two od’s in one week . 2nd family in the last 6 months . I tell everyone before they rent it “ no drugs”. The wife and I are getting tired of it . The house sits empty right now and we may just let it sit . Drugs and dems are a plague .
Sorry for your loss.
Read few months ago that a kid at a campus party died shortly after taking fentanyl. His friend, who tried to give him CPR, also died.
Good for you. Don’t put up with that crap.
I never did because I did not want to get addicted, I’ve always had a hangup about that.
Play with dangerous toys...chances go up that the player dies, or is irreversibly injured. Unadulterated fact of life. Doesn’t matter why person was playing....
A friend called me a few months ago to tell me their son overdosed the night before.
They thought he had his problems under control.
He had it all. Great family, good job, friends.
Not a “hang-up”. It’s smart. It’s self preservation. What we’re finding out is how many people will risk their death by taking unknown substances.
