Rep. Liz Cheney, the Wyoming Republican who is now fighting for her political life after taking on former President Donald Trump and his GOP allies, may need Democrats and independents to survive an increasingly difficult primary battle.
Ms. Cheney’s bid for a fourth term could be cut short in August, when she faces two Republican opponents in an Aug. 16 primary.
A new poll of GOP primary voters, commissioned by the conservative Club For Growth, found Ms. Cheney trailing Republican opponent Harriet Hageman by a staggering 30 points. The poll showed Mrs. Hageman with 56% of the vote, Ms. Cheney with 26%, and a third candidate, Anthony Bouchard, with 12%. Another 6% of Republican primary voters were undecided.
Cheney supporters have scoffed at the poll, noting the Club for Growth opposes Ms. Cheney and the survey was relatively small. But it suggests the once-rising GOP star is facing significant backlash from Republicans in a state where 70% of voters supported Mr. Trump in 2020.
Ms. Cheney could survive, state political experts say, if Democrats and independents come to her rescue.
Wyoming allows voters to switch party affiliation at the polls, which means the state’s registered Democrats could show up to help Ms. Cheney.

Let the people see these manipulations.
The Ruling Oligarchs are being forced to show their malignant and insidious hands.
Of course she does and the GOPe will be more than happy to deliver them
If she loses she will run as an independent to split the vote
Terminate the Cheney wench, and Trump smashes another Ameri-globo-elite dynasty, to go with the Bushes, Clintons and Obamas.
She MUST go.
Was Wyoming GOP stupid enough or GOPe controlled enough to allow cross-over voting in primaries? Schwarzenegger doing that to CA is the initial reason it is lost for all time now.
Schwarzenegger is another case of deliberate infiltration of the GOP, I’m ashamed I fell for his act.
Time to send Lizard breath packing.
I sure hope you are right. I like your optimist best.
I believe Wyoming has a sore loser law which would prevent her from running if she lost the party nomination.
Now, if DeSantis were to beat Trump in a primary, this is exactly what Trump would do: Act like a sore loser.
R U sayin’ open primary? The only way we could get rid of her is in November. Do it if you have to. We’ll keep the house anyway.
at the time, there was a hot debate on FR over whether or not to support Schwarzenegger or Tom McClintock, his main rival and a solid conservative. Schwarzenegger's supporters argued that he was more electable.
teddy roosevelt did that to Taft and gave us Wilson. None of them were any good, but that was long before the Progs took off all their masks.
She may as well run as a Democrat.
Being married to a Kennedy should have been the first clue.
There were a LOT of GOPe plants here back then. The same ones were responsible for Bill Simon’s loss a year earlier. And they fanned the flames of fear to give us Arnold(R) in the recall. >>spit<< Lack of faith is a killer. Remains so today,
Lez Romney needs to pack her bags and find a blue state to swindle 🤪
Really? I don’t think Trump would run against DeSantis. Trump has already won the Presidency twice... I am sure he will win against DeSantis - although I prefer DeSantis. But I think Trump would bow out if DeSantis won the primary. So much vitriol towards a man who has been smeared by “russia russia russia” and “he just cannot accept loss” - nope there was rampant fraud and the republic died in 2020...I have no hopes actual elections will ever return. It is a very sad time for the former USA....
She won’t win and she won’t keep the R from winning the general….
Her daddy’s money and connections can’t save her…
