An employee at Robb Elementary School had propped open a door to carry food from a car to the classroom last Tuesday, but closed it shut after realizing that a gunman was loose and heading toward the school, her San Antonio lawyer said......

McCraw told reporters on Friday that the employee propped open the door about the time the gunman crashed the truck, and that the employee called 911. But Flanary said he wants to make clear that the door was not left propped open.

“She saw the wreck,” Flanary said. “She ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911. The men at the funeral home yelled, ‘He has a gun!’ She saw him jump the fence, and he had a gun so she ran back inside........

Either she left the door open, or she thought she closed it, but it didn’t latch. Probably a “crash out bar” mechanism for emergency exit.

Exactly, it will automatically lock if the door is PULLED close. She probably didn't fully close the door. So saying she closed it is not exactly a truthful statement. Saying she released the object that she propped it open with might be more accurate and she allowed the door to swing closed, but only partially closed. It likely hung up and actually technically remained open in an unlocked position. Parsing so as to avoid civil lawsuits.

“Lie. Either she left the door open, or she thought she closed it, but it didn’t latch. Probably a “crash out bar” mechanism for emergency exit.“

You are giving rational, realistic scenarios of what probably happened .
People who will only accept conspiracy theories wont like that.

The teacher is already lawyered up as it was the lawyer who responded for her.

Teacher probably gently closed the door to avoid drawing the shooter’s attention, but I bet it won’t lock unless “slammed” as happens when kids change classes in high school.

“There are motives to lie.”

Absolutely. And the gunman got in some way. So the school was not secure as it should have been. If he barged his way in someone should have seen it and called security immediately. And the police. Looks like they don’t have a good system in place
