A group of Austin, Texas, city council members is preparing a resolution to “decriminalize” abortion there in the event the US supreme court overturns Roe v Wade, a landmark case decided nearly five decades ago that protects the federal right to terminate a pregnancy.
...
“The resolution does two things – one, [it] restricts city funds from being used to essentially investigate any kind of alleged abortion crimes,” said José “Chito” Vela, an Austin councilman. “The other thing it does is to make the investigation of any abortion-related crime the lowest priority for our police department.”

Austin sounds like it has a “78 Minute” police department...
These insurrectionists are basically saying that they will aid and abet the breaking of a law in their state. There should be serious ramifications for doing that.
I live in Austin. I just passed a resolution that my house and land are no longer subject to the confiscatory property taxes.
Abortion should have never been a Federal mandate, this was a clear over-reach by the SCOTUS, in that they violated the 10th Amendment.
This should have been a State’s Right issue; and I doubt that Texas will be Pro-Abortion. Austin can pout, shout and hold their collective breath, but the Texas Congress and Governor will make that determination.
Austin = Little California
And ex post facto law requires that every abortion that has been committed since Roe was erroneously issued should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.
Put it on the council agenda right after decriminalizing drug use, vagrancy and shoplifting.
And these are the RATs raising hell about a mass shooting at school. How many infants during the time period the Uvalde P.D.’s S.W.A.T. team was “standing down” waiting for backup. “If your SWAT team has to wait for backup, you might be a ....”
Can Austin make a law that violates the State of Texas law?
Can every city and jurisdiction do the same thing?
Or, since we have two justice systems now, does it matter?
They are prohibited by Article I, Section 10, Clause 1, of the U.S. Constitution. An ex post facto law is considered a hallmark of tyranny because it deprives people of a sense of what behavior will or will not be punished and allows for random punishment at the whim of those in power.
Texas swamp aims to make swamp deeper.
The People's Socialist Kakistocracy of Austin is already "Little California" in housing prices, and is headed toward becoming Little Chicago in crime and corruption.
Austin is to NC as is Asheville here.
A good example of what I was talking about the other night. In a post-Roe world, the battles will be fought in red states.
Like a ‘sanctuary city’?
Like a ‘sanctuary city’?
Thirty days after SCOTUS announces that states determine whether abortion will be legal or illegal in their state, the Trigger Law will kick in. The trigger law will make performing, inducing or attempting an abortion where “an unborn child dies as a result of the offense” a first-degree felony, punishable by up to life in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. It contains an exception only to save the life of the pregnant person.
Austin is the anus of Texas.
Let the leftists depopulate themselves.
