China has made the second-largest incursion into Taiwan’s air defence zone this year with Taipei reporting 30 jets entering the area, including more than 20 fighters.

Taiwan’s defence ministry said late Monday it had scrambled its own aircraft and deployed air defence missile systems to monitor the latest Chinese activity.

In recent years, Beijing has begun sending large sorties into Taiwan’s defence zone to signal dissatisfaction and to keep Taipei’s ageing fighter fleet regularly stressed.

Taiwan needs to shoot down few of these intruders, then the provocations will stop.

Terrible advice. Taiwan only spends 2% of their GDP on defense, which is below the world average. They are in no position to maintain their independence. Their female leader is a Democrat Progressive. The country has gone socialist and isn't worth saving. Bring our high-tech industry back to America. Intel is building a new $20 billion factory in Ohio. Now is the time to start importing Taiwan's top 20%.

Taiwan Semiconductor is building a $25 billion plant in Arizona.

I wish they had done it sooner.

Unfortunately, it would be a very good thing if Taiwan shot down aircraft intentionally violating its ADIZ.

TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), the world’s largest producer of computer chips, began constructing a $12USD Billion fabrication plant just north of Phoenix last year, and has stated it plans to build up to six more in the next decade, with a potential investment of up to $100B. They apparently have seen the handwriting on the wall...see https://www.reuters.com/technology/tsmc-says-construction-has-started-arizona-chip-factory-2021-06-01/

Taiwan is officially a province of China. It is not recognized as a sovereign nation, not by the United Nations for more than 50 years, and not by the United States which maintains no official diplomatic relations with Taiwan. China is approximately the size of the United States. Taiwan is approximately the size of Long Island, New York. As a non-nation, Taiwan has no security guarantees from anybody.

The last thing Taiwan needs is a war they cannot win against China.

“They (the Chinese) are wearing out their opponent without firing a shot,” said Derek Grossman, a senior defence analyst at the RAND Corporation.

In 2020, Taiwan’s air force scrambled jets at least 2,972 times against Chinese aircraft at a cost equivalent to US$905m.

Unfortunately, it would be a very good thing if Taiwan shot down aircraft intentionally violating its ADIZ.

That's not only foolish, but illegal. An IZ is an identification zone. Any country is free to fly through it without permission or notification, although Taiwan is free to intercept and harass if they are prepared to fight. By choice, Taiwan is totally unprepared. Their thinking is, vain America will always send American patriots to do their fighting and dying for them.

An ADIZ is not national airspace. It is just something on a map where you are interested in what is out there. Some of ours extend hundreds of miles offshore.

I know what an AirDefenceIdentificationZone is.
imo it would not be unreasonable to fire ‘ sparklers’ in the face of REPEATED HOSTILE incursion into an ADIZ, as in the case of CommunistChina/ Tiawan

I hope Taiwan collected some good intelligence from this.

FTA: ...30 jets entering the area, including more than 20 fighters.

I believe both sides are collecting intel and sending messages.

Chinese intel: How many F-16s does Taiwan have on air-defense alert? Launch 30 aircraft and find out.

Chinese intel: At what range will F-16 lock-on? China could be testing new RWR software update.

Chinese intel: At what range will Chinese fighters acquire and lock on to F-16s?

Chinese Message: Our bombers will have fighter escort.

Taiwan intel: What formation are the fighters in? Close escort with the bombers? Sweep in front of the bombers?

Taiwan message: Our F-16s have AMRAAMs and Sidewinders.

Yup.

It might also be a way of desensitizing Taiwan’s air defense into a normalcy bias when they decide to go all in.
