Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), a leading Senate advocate for supporting Ukraine’s war against Russia, crossed into Ukraine Sunday and called on the Biden administration to step up its shipments of artillery.

Portman announced his visit while at the Ukraine-Moldova border crossing at Palanca.

“I also had the opportunity to speak with several Ukrainians crossing the border and hear about their concerns about what Russia was doing to their country,” he tweeted.

The Senators and Congressmen have their underground bunkers.

As far as they are concerned American civilians can go ^%$# themselves in the event of nuclear conflict.

Any support for Ukraine is money and material wasted.

Even if the Russians manage to take the Donbas region, incorporate it into greater Russia, they have still suffered a huge strategic defeat. Its been shown that the conventional Russian military, once feared by the West as a juggernaut is a paper tiger. Western Europe and NATO now know that they are in no real danger of being physically conquered. Also the ineffectiveness has not been lost on the Chinese. China now knows that Russia’s underpopulated Siberian treasure house and its rich Far Eastern territories cannot be easily defended and are vulnerable. Comrade Xi may realize that his combat inexperienced military armed with untested equipment, ships and planes might not be able to successfully invade a resisting Taiwan across 90 miles of open ocean but Russia is very vulnerable.

“money and material wasted”

If that was the only issue I would not be that concerned—military industrial complex companies are getting a wealth transfer from average working people—par for the course in DC.

The problem is that Russia will (justifiably) see this as casus belli—that makes it extremely dangerous and stupid.

R’s and D’s always want to defend and support other countries instead of our borders and citizens.

Portman’s not doing anything next year, perhaps he should just stay there and fight for the UA.

once feared by the West as a juggernaut (Russia) is a paper tiger

Well, it was feared due to the propaganda put up by our defense industry.

Meanwhile in the east where another belligerent country has been building up a capable military, we hear nothing but inroads in the use of proper pronouns.
