House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband was arrested for driving under the influence in Napa County, Calif., according to news reports.

Paul Pelosi, 82, was arrested before midnight on Saturday in Napa County and was sent to jail for driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher, according to TMZ which first reported the news.

Both are misdemeanor charges.

TMZ also reported that his bail was set for $5,000.

The news come as Nancy Pelosi was scheduled to receive an honorary degree and give the commencement address at Brown University in Rhode Island on Sunday.

Nancy Pelosi has not yet addressed her husband’s arrest. However, her spokesman, Drew Hammill said, “the Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast.”

Paul Pelosi is an investor who runs a San Francisco-based venture capital company. The two own a vineyard in Napa Valley. They met at Georgetown University and have been married since 1963.

When Pelousy first became Speaker of the House, she insisted on a large, wide body jet. Before Pelousy, the Speaker had a very nice, but smaller jet. Pelousy insisted on this, in part due to all of the alcohol her family consumes. The amount of alcohol they consume would not fit into a G5. So, the first year of Pelousy as Speaker, we paid $150,000 for her family’s alcohol while on the plane. Other people’s money is so easy to spend.

An 82 year old man is over .08 after half a Bud Light - you’re correct - that limit is killing the hospitality industry

The article didn't say it was .08. It said .08 is the legal minimum for DUI.

Baloney. Light beer is about 4.2%. An average-sized male could drink four of them in an hour and still be under the limit. (See here.) Since he owns a winery, I'm pretty sure he wasn't drinking light beer, though.

With all their millions she has made in Congress and he made off his Post Office investments, why doesn’t he have a car take him home or get an Uber? It is dumb in this day and age.

You should have kept reading... .08 OR higher. They didn’t disclose the actual level. I’m kinda surprised he had to post bail. Is it normal to get locked up for misdemeanors?

I heard she was also generous in passing out bottles to the air and ground crews. Again generous with other people’s money.

These days, they’ll usually make you stay in jail until you sober up, which means release the next morning. Bail for misdemeanor DUI, especially for a guy like him, is highly unusual. I’m guessing it was imposed to avoid any assertion of favoritism.

Ha ha, she is at Brown University (Rhode Island) today giving the Commencement Address...must be embarrassing for her. The old man wanted to play while the old bag was away.
