(CNN) Federal cybersecurity officials have verified there are software vulnerabilities in certain ballot-marking devices made by Dominion Voting Systems, discovered during a controversial Georgia court case, which could in theory allow a malicious actor to tamper with the devices
The computer scientist, J. Alex Halderman, was given physical access over several weeks to the Dominion ballot-marking devices, which print out a ballot after voters make their choice on a touch screen. Halderman's report is still under seal with the court.
But according to Halderman and people who have seen the report, it claims to demonstrate how the software flaws could be used to alter QR codes printed by the ballot-marking devices, so those codes do not match the vote recorded by the voter. Postelection audits, which compare paper trails with votes recorded on machines, could catch the discrepancy.
The nature of computing means all software has vulnerabilities if you look closely enough, and software used in elections is no different. But election experts say physical access controls and other layers of defense, along with postelection audits, help mitigate the threat of votes being manipulated via cyberattacks.
The CISA warning notes most jurisdictions using the machines tested already have adapted the mitigations recommended by the agency. Dominion has provided updates to machines to address the vulnerability, one person briefed on the matter said.
CNN has reached out to Dominion for comment.
Separately, the Georgia's Secretary of State's office released a statement Friday on a review of the state's election systems conducted by Mitre Corp., a federally funded nonprofit. While the Mitre report has not been made public, Gabriel Sterling, Georgia's deputy Secretary of State, said in a statement Friday the report showed "existing procedural safeguards make it extremely unlikely for any bad actor to actually exploit any vulnerabilities."

They’re slowly inching toward media disclosure. Trying to cover their butts.
Here’s the problem with these worthless garbage reviews. They are looking at the “standard” software installation. There were reports that machines got an update right before the election. That was supposed to be a NO NO. You could update code, alter results, and then erase that code, leaving no finger prints. The head of software development at Dominion was a rabid Antifa loving, Trump hating leftist. He had the means and motive. He guaranteed Trump would lose.
They know this because they have no record that Dominion filed a “Notification to Exploit Weaknesses in Voting Software For Partisan Political Advantage” form with the Federal Elections Commission.

this week from CNN. NEW OWNERSHIP.
Ya BS on that report.
Ya BS on that report.
They’re not flaws they’re features the Democrats ordered
Machines don’t kill people, people do. machines do not commit fraud. people do. Lets spend the next 1000 years trying to figure out the machines. already done by fulton county PA review by wake TSI.
The government investigated itself and found there was no problem. Reassured, citizens?
Only one government developed software program with open computer codes should be used in vote counting computers. Totaling a set of numbers is one of the most basic functions of computers . The machines should do nothing else.
Brought to you by the same folks who said the Biden laptop was propaganda and the DNC server was hacked by the Russians.
Coming up next, “Some flaws WERE exploited, but not enough to change the outcome of the election.”
Fix is in
“The nature of computing means all software has vulnerabilities...”
No reason to use any existing software.
Expensive, unnecessary and vulnerable.
We’ll just keep voting. As if it matters.
Without full examination, the conclusion is dubious.
When you spend years planning to commit massive vote fraud then you take the time to make sure you have plenty of people on the payroll to cover for you.
Well, 2022 may be the last time I vote. If there are any hijinks like 2020. It will truly be pointless.
