"The mental health community cannot solve the problem of gun violence in America."

How about the mental health community stop prescribing Ritalin, Adderoll, Paxil, and other Serotonin suppressing
drugs to boys and young men?

Jackasses...

90 children were shot in Chicago so far this year with 25 being killed. And they have gun control there.

Mandatory once a year psych checks for all kids starting in 8th grade. Anyone deemed unstable is flagged and referred to a mandatory professional evaluation.

And being unsure what sex you are should be an automatic flag.

Maybe they could actually try it? All of these deranged adolescent males were practically screaming their intentions, either on social media or conversations or even in schools. None of them seem to have gotten more than the most minimal “help” and some didn’t get any at all.

We need to go back to long-term involuntary commitments in residential facilities for adolescent mental health care. And the justice system, what little remains of it, has to start doing its job and getting these crazy kids off the streets and out of the schools.

not everyone who is unbalanced is a murderer, but every murderer is unbalanced.

How do you tell between the two ahead of time?

“Blaming mental health is a deflection from the fact that gun control is a necessary part of prevention.”

Corrected to:

“Blaming firearms is a deflection from the fact that mental health control is a necessary part of prevention.”

Think about it. Sandy Hook and Uvalde.

The warning flags were there but were ignored.

Similar warning signals are being ignored in other communities right now.

I’m not sure the “mental heath community” can solve anything. Almost every mass school shooter has been on psycho drugs. Not sure about this one, I wonder if we will know.

“We can do all the things we can to help students, but at the end of the day, if a student has the notion to go shoot up a school”

That notion is evidently very easy to dissuade, given that zero mass shootings have taken place at schools that allow people to carry. Such people are cowards, abd there is ample evidence they seek out soft targets for their attcks. All we have to do is remove schools (and grocery stores and shopping malls) from the list of “soft targets”.

If they threaten violence they should be institutionalized.

If they threaten violence they should be institutionalized.

Who reports them? Who orders them institutionalized? Use the Uvalde case as an example.

Less than 10 percent of shootings nationwide involve a suspect who has a mental illness, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Looks like all shootings are lumped into this statement. From what I've read, most of the public mass shooters either had documented mental illness or were known by those around them to exhibit troubling behavior.

Agreed, this is more corporate media subterfuge. The perpetrator of the 1996 Port Arthur tragedy was long known to have mental health issues (setting himself on fire as a child for starters) and had been assessed by a psychologist “Cannot read or write. Could be schizophrenic and parents face a bleak future with him.” And James Holmes (the 2012 Aurora movie theatre shooting) had told psychiatrists about his desires of mass killing and these psychiatrists in turn thought that he had schizoid personality disorder in their assessments of him.

You can think of other high profile incidents of mass public shootings and many, many of them will have had perpetrators of this sort of background of being known to family and peers and mental health professionals with these issues.

Well the shooter was out to shoot people and it didn’t matter who - evidenced in he shot his own grandmother first - then two people in front of a funneral home after he crashed the truck - then he fires in the school parking lot .......all this BEFORE he entered the school.

Not so sure this shooter could have been stopped by Institutional living prior. His home environment certainly would have been questionable in supporting that. And I tend to think the community likely see other students very similar to his behavior in their school system.

This is just the first step in legislating the “outing by ANYONE” against someone who they feeeeeel is dangerous.

Could be anyone you know, anyone you pissed off, or just someone who is jealous or just hates you because you’re a conservative and might have or want a gun.

No competent and legally bound and legally responsible professionals, no legal court officials, no law enforcement officials with proper prior evidence of ‘troubling events.’

Just your everyday TikTok, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook twit with some political axe to grind against you.

Are you expecting some kind of go-no go test for unbalanced enough to shoot someone?

Sorry,no standardized test for crazy enough to kill, but I do have a test for stupid and Ive evaluated your replies to many of my posts, and you have zero ability to think for yourself, You're a liberal troll aleays asking dumb trap questions, so you passed the stupid test with flying colors.

“If somebody comes to a door with a semiautomatic weapon,” Cook said, “that’s it then.”

Should be:

If somebody comes to a door with a semiautomatic weapon...cook them.
