Maybe it could have been prevented. But the reality is Russia is about to seize sovereign territory by armed force for the first time in decades. Just letting it happen is a recipe for a greater disaster down the road.

That is the bottom line. Yes, Ukraine is corrupt. And yes, Putin had some legitimate security concerns. But when he ordered his army to cross an international border everything else became trivial in comparison.
It amazes me how some people try to minimize that act of aggression.
Now, how should the West respond? That is an entirely separate question where good people can disagree. But to defend the invasion itself, I just don’t get that.
The reality is the western Ukes and Kiev attacked people in the Donbass for their crime of opting out of the 2014 coup. They opted out of the coup to stop the immediate move towards ethnic cleansing. The Galician Ukes have been pounding them with artillery for 10 years.
And it’s comical to see the fulminating about “Russia is about to seize sovereign territory by armed force for the first time in decades.” when we have done that crap for decades. We broke Kosovo off Serbia and launched a brutal air war for over two months. We are in the process of helping a rebel movement break off a giant chunk of Syria at this moment.
Its a good thing that the Donbass finally got some help from the Nazi militias and Uke Army attacking them after 8 years. It’s a cherry on the cake that DC and the WEF are getting humiliated in the process. Weaking them both is good for freedom loving Americans.
If we can keep Ukraine out of Russia’s hands it will free up a generation or two from Russia’s eternal threat and it’s always seeking to do harm.
Whether I was civilian or military, Russia has always been a threat to me and mine, and the world.
Crimea: "Am I a joke to you?"
