“Probably not....terminal stupidity at its worst.”
Why would she prop open the door?
That "is" the $999 question....
Maybe there was no a/c in the classroom, or it was on the fritz. No way this was some sort of preplanned scheme or open invitation to mass murder.
Maybe she didn’t want to take her key to have to try and reopen it under gun fire. Then she ran back in and forgot to take out the door stop.
Since it was the teacher’s parking lot, she also probably got used to not locking her car doors so she didn’t need her keys or jey fob to get in.
Why prop? When you see the map or overhead pic of the place you notice that this door was the entrance from what had to be , a staff parking lot. The sidewalk and drive point straight to it. At the very least this door would have seen a lot of traffic at starting and quitting time. The main entrance was/is clear on the opposite side of the school.
So if a staffer needed something from a car during school the only way to get back in would be to brick the door. There’s no indication of a staffer still outside when the shooting started, so, at a minimum, we’ve got a halflazyass staffer who can’t remember to pick up his/her/its own brick.
All of this in the face of just having had a shooter drill in the previous two months. Maybe I have this part wrong but it seems the cops couldn’t get in thru this very same door?
She would prop the door open because it would lock behind her. She wanted to get something out of her car, so she left it propped open so she could get back in. There is a parking light right beside the door.
Why did she not kick the prop out and pull the door shut, locking it, when she heard gunfire? THAT is the $64,000 question.
I think it was to get better reception to call 9-11.
