NY bill would move local elections to even years, GOP cries foul

Abill to move nearly all of New York's local elections to even years has attracted renewed attention, especially from Republicans who accuse Democrats of attempting to "rig" the races.

The legislation sponsored by state Assemblywoman Amy Paulin and state Sen. James Skoufis, both Democrats, would shift county, town and village elections to even years, which means they would be held at the same time as presidential and midterm elections. New York City would be exempt from the change.

Proponents of the bill argue that it would increase turnout for local elections. Under New York's current system, local elections are held in odd years. Turnout is usually low in local election years.

In Onondaga County, 77% of voters cast ballots in the 2020 presidential election. However, in 2021, a local election year, turnout was 31.08%.

The authors of the legislation wrote in its justification that the current schedule "leads to voter confusion and contributes to low voter turnout in local elections."

If the purpose of the bill *isn’t* rigging, then why is NYC specifically exempted?

Yes, more Dim idiots vote in general elections because their media tells them to, and for too long idiot local Conservatives have ignored the need to be involved in especially local school board elections.

“In Onondaga County, 77% of voters cast ballots in the 2020”

When I worked the polls on election day in New york city, our turnout for the presidential election was the same every time. Only around 50 percent of registered voters bothered to vote. And the presidential election was always our highest turnout. Election day in other years would have only from 10-25 percent turnout of registered voters.

For a county to claim a 77 percent turnout sounds very suspicious.

I honestly believe the left have thousands, maybe more, paid scum working 24/360 on ANY thing they can come up with to destroy our country.

Meanwhile, Republicans set on their butts and cringe at the thought that the demonic-RATS might say something against them and hurt their feelings.

Or worse, get investigated. The lefts favorite way of destroying anyone remotely acquainted with any person they want to destroy. And they get away with it.

They’re just failures and they turn into worms?

Easier to plan and implement vote fraud this way. Different strategies for different types of elections.
