The hits just keep on a-comin', today.

There's going to be a buttload of guilt and culpability to spread around. Cops and school people alike.

WHY didn't SOMEONE lock the ******g school down - probably just by mashing one single button?

WHY didn’t SOMEONE lock the ******g school down - probably just by mashing one single button?

I’ve never heard of a school that had that kind of capability (but I don’t get around all that much). The school where I work has a protocol that as soon as an intruder is even suspected, an announcement is made over the P.A. and classrooms are locked down and his location broadcast. I don’t know if the Ulvade school has such a P.A. system but a school-wide P.A. system is pretty low tech.

If there were gunshots for several minutes before he entered the school, that should have been plenty of time to lock every door. Why the doors weren’t locked is a question that will have to be answered.

It needs to be remembered that (if reports are correct) that all of the teachers except the two who were murdered did, in fact, keep their kids safe.

I can understand police entering to get their own kids, I have to hope that they also got all the other kids in their kids’ class out. But frankly this whole police response is starting to look like a cluster****.

If you haven't already seen the following shooting-related thread, you might find it interesting.

A mother when she heard what was happening drove 40 miles and when she arrive she yelled at the police to go into the building. They handcuffed her then later let her go, she jumped a fence and ran into the school and rescued her daughter.

Every single one of those law enforcement there should be fired. They stood around waiting on what? Someone to give permission. Fireman do not stand around and wait.

That is the question I don’t understand. From the reports I’ve read he crashed nearby and was outside with the rifle for about 10 minutes. I don’t believe for a second that wasn’t called in to police who should’ve immediately notified the schools in the area of what was going on. I read an article saying this particular school district has had something like 40 lockdowns this year because of border patrol pursuits/activity. It’s not like it was a foreign concept to them and they completely failed.
