Russian Navy specialists removed mine danger in Mariupol port waters, Russian National Defense Control Center head Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev said Thursday.

"A complex of measures undertaken by the Russian Navy resulted in elimination of mine danger in the port of Mariupol; civilian ships can use it safely now," he said.

According to Mizintsev, at 08:00 Moscow time on May 25, Russian Armed Forces opened a round-the-clock humanitarian corridor in the Sea of Azov, 115 miles long and 2 miles wide. Coordinates of assembly point are: 46°55"N, 37°29"E, coordinates of disbandment point are: 45°08"N, 36°31"E.

The Ukraine Navy irresponsibly deployed significant numbers of Naval mines in the Black Sea off Mariupol, without regard to any uninvolved civilian naval traffic, effectively making civilian shipping impossible.

Significant numbers of these mines broke loose from their moorings and became a danger in the entire Black Sea.

Russia has finally been able to clear enough of these mines to open the Port and Guarantee a safe corridor.

You’re a moron, tovarishch. Mariupol is not on the Black Sea; it is on the Sea of Azov.

“The Ukraine Navy irresponsibly deployed significant numbers of Naval mines...”

In other words, the Ukraine Navy took the standard measure for repelling a naval invasion by a superior naval force that every country has taken for hundreds of years...

Their method of deploying the mines violated international laws.

No, you're the moron:

Mariupol has long-been a strategically important port on the Sea of Azov, part of the Black Sea.

Maybe if you stopped sniffing Biden's diaper, and did some research, you wouldn't come across as such a clown.

The Russians are now shipping vast quantitues of Ukrainian grain back to Russia. You bet they want to clear those mines.

Much of the 3rd world will starve.

Curious if you've got a source for that claim. Russia is the world's third largest wheat producer, growing over three times more than Ukraine (which ranks 8th). And Russia announced that it's expecting the biggest wheat crop in its history. If that is true, why would Russia need or want to steal Ukraine's grain?

What will be interesting to learn is whether the $40 billion US aid package requires Ukraine’s repayment to the United States and whether that repayment is guaranteed by Ukraine’s grain. I don’t know the answer, but I am very curious...

In 1944 the only reason Paris was saved from destruction was because the German commander, Dietrich von Choltitz, disobeyed a direct order from Hitler and surrendered the city to Free French forces.

Don’t be smug, Americans have killed plenty of civilians during wartime, beginning with the War Between the States.
Dresden and Berlin were rubble by wars end, plenty of civilians died. It wasn’t just the British who conducted those bombings. Tokyo was reduced to cinders by American firebombing in an effort to end the war. Then came Hiroshima and Nagasaki both chock full of civilians.

In Vietnam we bombed the hell out of the North until their economy was only functioning because of the Russian and Chinese money pumped in.

If someone cares to look, history is ripe with civilian death during wartime. In fact civilians are ALWAYS the biggest losers in time of war.

I don’t recall any such attachments to thst $40 billion, despite it being inferred as a “Lend-Lease”.

Right now there are some tugboats and an ice breaker at the Port of Mariupol. They haven’t moved in days and neither have the ships in Odessa:

You "ought" to know Ukraine mined the Black as well as Azov, and so unprofessionally that numerous mines were floating, broken off their moorings, it's a Nazi thing.

Ukraine sabotaged their own Port knowing Nazi supporters would blame Russia.

You're the proof of that.

“No, you’re the moron: Mariupol has long-been a strategically important port on the Sea of Azov, part of the Black Sea.”

Nice dodge, tovarishch. The Sea of Azov is separate and distinct from the Black Sea; hence, it has a totally different name.

Per Wikipedia: “The Sea of Azov (Russian: Азовское море, romanized: Azovskoye more; Ukrainian: Азовське море, romanized: Azovs’ke more)[3] is a sea in Eastern Europe connected to the Black Sea by the narrow (about 4 km or 2.5 mi) Strait of Kerch, and is sometimes regarded as a northern extension of the Black Sea.[4][5] The sea is bounded by Russia on the southeast and by Ukraine on the northwest.”

SOMETIMES regarded. That means it is informal, and not official, and not legally recognized as just a part of the Black Sea.

According to your logic, the Sea of Marmara is part of the Black Sea. Or, maybe you think it is part of the Aegean Sea? It IS connected to the two via narrow straits, just as Azov is connected to the Black Sea via narrow waterways. But Marmara is its own legally recognized sea, separate and distinct from the Aegean and the Black. By your logic a sailboat on the Marmara is actually on the Aegean; or is it on the Black Sea? It is on neither. It is on the Marmara.

You screwed up, tovarishch; just man up and admit it.
