GOP Drops Unprecedented Cash to Save Governors From MAGA Mutiny

The Republican Governors Association never had to protect incumbents facing primaries—until now.

The Republican Governors Association, the party’s official arm for governor’s races, wasted no time—nor spared any expense. For months, ads attacking Perdue were inescapable on Georgia airwaves.

In the 2022 election cycle so far, the RGA has spent over $9 million in support of incumbents in Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, Idaho, and Oklahoma. The group has never had to spend this much to defend sitting governors from primary challengers—or anything close to it.

That’s because the GOP of 2022 is in a historically anti-establishment mood. Of the 15 governors up for re-election this year, eight have faced primary challenges. Almost all of those challenges have come from the MAGA wing of the party, either from candidates with Trump’s endorsement or the support of key figures in his movement.

“This is just not the best use of our money. We would much rather use it just in races against Democrats,” former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), who co-chairs a fundraising arm of the RGA, told the Post. “But it was made necessary because Donald Trump decided on the vendetta tour this year and so we need to make sure we protect these folks who are the objects of his vengeance.”

Fat Republican slobs like Chris Christie will move both heaven and earth to protect the likes of incumbent Brian Kemp.

Let's see if they demonstrate the same zeal to elect Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania. I'm not holding my breath. They DON'T WANT him to become one of their precious incumbents.

MAGA Republicans need to respond by refusing to vote for Kemp in November.

These were just the primaries. Wait until the general to see just how upset the Republican voters are with the RINOs.

Kemp will be better than the fat lady leftist activist racist. Besides, it’s apparent that the people of GA voted for him.

My bet is that they won’t support Mastriano with any dollars. We’re going to have to do this on our own. Having that Poindexter, smarmy Shapiro in the governor spot is NOT an option.

“MAGA Republicans need to respond by refusing to vote for Kemp in November.”

That’s what I would do if I lived there. I’ve blanked my ballot twice for the odious Charlie Baker.

They got GA and OH, lost AZ, FL, and AR and may yet sabotage PA.

Say Kemp got 75% of the vote in the open primary. How many were Democrats? How many of them will vote for him in the general. How many of the 25% will?

In Ohio, it had nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with DeWine’s handling of the pandemic. He might as well have been a democrat for al the care he showed toward the bigger picture of economic damage he was doing to the voters.

Kemp will beat Stacy Abrams and GA will have to work on cleaning their own GOP house. Even better, Warnock will lose.
