Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton has held off a primary challenge Tuesday night, according to Decision Desk HQ.
The race was called at 8:37 p.m. ET.
George P. Bush, the nephew of the former President George W. Bush and son of former Florida GOP Gov. Jeb Bush, was defeated in the race against the incumbent Paxton, who had the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
Paxton consistently led in polling in his reelection bid for a third term, though surveys tightened in the weeks before the vote. He beat out Bush, the state's land commissioner, for Trump's endorsement.
But the younger Bush's underdog status highlights a remarkable shift within the state's Republican Party over the past decade, with the center of power moving from the business-friendly wing squarely into the social conservatives' camp.

Great news. Congrats to AG Paxton!
Could this be the end of another worthless and destructive American dynasty? One can only hope so.
This was the ONLY race that I cared about tonight.
The last of the Bushes is put out to pasture.
Take down the Clinton crime cartel as well as the house of Shrub.
Yep. Bye bye George P.
Good riddance go away and take your sorry ass relatives with you 🤪
Hallelujah!
Any word on Alabama?
“Hallelujah!”
LOL - I thought you’d be happy! But they’re still around, in the shadows, doing damage on a daily basis.
Do the Bushes still have that ranch in Paraguay?—if so about time they moved there—for good.
yeah, most dynasties are pretty bad, this one was almost as bad as the Kennedy one, but nothing can be as bad as the horny Irishmen one.
Saw Newt Gingrich when I was flipping by Hannity praising P Bush and hoping he continues in politics. The Bushes have lost the trust of Republicans.
Just glad that there was no drama and he easily won.
I posted about this race as one to watch months ago but it seems Mr. Paxton had this won a long time ago.
Texans seem to have had enough of the Bushes.
Stay out da Bushes!
Jesse Jackson got one correct.
Oh for sure, there are still scores of Bush League Republicans, many in senior leadership positions, but the last one with the name is gone.
This was the one I was keenest on, too.
Too bad about Georgia, huh?
👍
Jeb! sez please clap.
Well, we’re glad your son lost, Jeb!

I was never a big fan of Newt Gingrich. He seemed to me to be a bit too smooth. All hat, and no cattle. Or maybe Deep State, lite. Your post just reinforces my opinion of him.
Yea, bummer with Georgia, but it was a crappy choice between Kemp and Purdue. Pissed, though, that Raff-burger or whoever won.
Newt tried to say P was a very conservative Trump supporter… ha, I doubt it given the rest of his family… especially his uncle W. He may have had a chance if W had supported Trump and his own party instead of going full crook Democrat.
Suck it RINOs, Neocons, and BushBots!
Patriots, do not vote for Kemp in the general - he can burn in hell.
