Global Energy and Funding Shocks Test Climate Commitments

DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) - Six months after the world agreed in Glasgow to a U.N. climate pact with bold, new targets, political and business leaders facing an energy crisis, volatile markets and an economic downturn are grappling with how to cut carbon emissions.

Amid soaring oil and gas prices triggered by Russia's Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, some countries have turned to other fuels, including coal, to meet their energy needs.

Meanwhile, financial market ructions have complicated plans to raise the trillions of dollars needed for the energy transition away from fossil fuels.

But for Amin Nasser, head of oil producer Saudi Aramco, part of the problem is a lack of conversation between the oil industry and policymakers about the energy transition.

"I don't think there is a lot of constructive dialogue going on. In certain areas we are not brought to the table. We were not invited to COP in Glasgow," he told Reuters on Monday.

Nasser said investors fear being left with so-called stranded assets, essentially preventing companies from investing in fossil fuels to fill supply gaps caused by the Ukraine conflict and depletion of old fields across the world.

"We need a more constructive dialogue. They say we don't need you by 2030, so why would you go and build a project that takes 6-7 years? Your shareholder will not allow you to do it," Nasser said.

The Watermelons don’t want to stop hurting the economy in the name of their idol (aka the climate).

Agreed.

It's not about the climate and never was. "Climate" is an excuse to control plebes with energy policies.

If the avoirdupois privileged in US slimmed to an easy 23% body fat then the resultant drop in carbon emissions would be equal to taking 130,000,000 cars off the road and dousing every light in Las Vegas.

People will kill, die, destroy on the most massive of scales to defend a lie that profits them nothing.

Elemental to our nature.

Drain all except 10 gallons of jet fuel from the aircraft used by the Davos attendees.

SAUL ALINSSY RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

Until someone can produce a proof of concept that works, a project plan, justification of costs, return on investment and a risk mitigation plan, it’s nothing but rhetoric. When I get into this debate with my lib friends, I ask them about it and all they can do is call me a climate denier.

Maybe I am missing something in all this WEF talk, please help me.

The way I see it, we have Elitist Billionaires plotting in the open to Overthrow the Governments and the People of just about every Country on this planet for their own personal gain. We used to call this Conspiracy to Commit Sedition, Treason... and it used to be a DEATH PENALTY OFFENSE. Why are the powers that be in this Country allowing anyone at these Conspiratorial Gatherings where they openly discuss the OVERTHROW of the US Government and the American People, allowed to breathe? Let alone come back into this Country?

“Drain all except 10 gallons of jet fuel from the aircraft used by the Davos attendees.”

That 10 gals won’t even get them into the air.

Give them 300 gals to get airborne, and crash into the ocean or mountains.

I see your point. But that would put the contaminants from these scumbags at a place other than off the end of the runway at Davos.

Heh, good one.
Those planes would burn-up 10 gals easily just taxiing to a take-off runway. Okay, give them 75 gals to get airborne and crash just off the tarmac.

The “powers that be” are the same people as the ones at the gatherings.

Money and the promise of vast power.

They ignore that the money will be destroyed and the power will be excessively quantified until the compromised are also destroyed. Until then, they have a death grip on the world.

Everyone has the hope of being eaten last, or at least of being able to game the system. Note they picked NZ, one of the most authoritarian-captured & seismically-active countries, for their bunkers. Other oligarch-politicians picked Paraguay, also seismically active, as well as subject to extreme winters. They calculated nuclear war would only endanger the Northern Hemisphere.

They are not intelligent. They are sly. I doubt they will find their *survival* pleasant, if they even manage to survive.

As for being *allowed*: the plotters own everything/every institution/every resource/everyone with any power. They have contempt for law and persons. So far, it appears justified, save for a very few who are standing up & speaking out, making themselves targets. The non-powerful are mesmerized and unorganized. The various kill shots have evidently paralyzed the entire world and there is no real opposition. It is a true shock & awe campaign. Who stands against them and survives for very long?

Just listen to the self-satisfied smarm emanating from Geneva and echoed by the minions around the globe. There are reasons for their confidence. Whomever revolts and disallows their takeover is cancelled, ruined, silenced and ultimately killed. They have their own armies and have operational control of any other forces that would be used against them.
They recognize no laws and instead, proclaim the rules for everyone else.

Humans are predictable. Those in opposition are far more concerned with finding ways to be among the 500 million allowed to survive as slaves.

There is war and there will be more and more destruction. I see a few minor battles won, here and there, but, overall, this Plan is proceeding exactly as designed.
