My Dad was stationed at Fort Gordon when I was little. We lived in N Augusta, SC. We were also at Yuma, Fort Belvoir and in Texas but I forget the Fort. My Mom would unpack in 30 seconds knowing that he’d be transferred. 27 years in the Army. He loved it. Made it to Master Sargeant.
He was in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, Korea and did 2 tours in Vietnam. My mother had a nervous breakdown on his 2nd tour because Cronkite would flap his yapper every night and say how many died and where. Always waiting for a knock on the door from Army officials and a minister.
Mom and Dad are both in Arl. Natl. What’s happening to our military today is beyond pathetic.
It’s going to be generic stuff like “Independence” and “Liberty” and “Freedom.”

Reminds me of the names given to people in Ayn Rand’s dystopian future novel “Anthem”. In an age where there was no individual freedom, and it was a death sentence to use the word “I”, people were assigned names such as
