Yeah... ranked choice works well in primaries. It’s much harder for the establishment to run conservative fakes to split the vote, or for Democrats to pile on behind a loser deliberately. I wouldn’t like it for a general election, though: it makes sure the least objected-to candidate always wins, and that’s usually the guy that the news media likes.
I hope so. But I’m thinking there’s a huge difference between “these friends” and the folks that make up the tsunami coming over the border. I could be wrong and have no problem admitting that unlike others in this site.
We all hear about the highest gas prices in history and everything else costing more and more.
We haven’t even started getting the property tax bills that will be required to take care of all of the illegals and increased refugee numbers. Hopefully Gov Abbott goes through with and wins the lawsuit about forcing the taxpayers to pay for the schooling of illegal alien kids. And I’d be even more hopeful, if the suit is filed, that more Republican Governors/states sign onto the suit.
That is the best name, just above Pete LaCock
Outstanding. Thanks.
Thank you, sir.
Why is it inherently bad? The Virginia GOP has had great success with it in their primaries.
Let me guess, something about queer Hoft or lizard people?
He sounds like a good candidate.
Enlighten me, what is a firehouse primary?
A firehouse primary, I can’t explain the etymology of the word, means that voting is at a greatly reduced number of polling places throughout the area.
Anyway, that’s my understanding of the meaning.
Don’t ever accuse me of believing in something stupid like lizard people.
I have a bad habit. I vote for candidates AFTER I research the candidates. I make my decision on which candidate I wish to vote for.
Taking my vote for the candidate of my choice and giving it to someone who is not my choice is offensive to me.
You think that’s how RCV works? Lol! It doesn’t work that way at all. It allows voters the option to rank candidates in order of preference: one, two, three, and so forth. If your vote cannot help your top choice win, your vote counts for your next choice.
If you don’t want your vote to go to your second choice, you can rank only one candidate and not rank any one else. If you do that, your vote doesn’t “transfer” to anyone (not that it does anyway.)
I’m continually amazed by how many people don’t know what they don’t know.
Voting should be dirt simple, not some complex statistical game that most don’t understand.
That makes cheating easy.
How about paper ballots and the one with the most vote wins? It’s amazing how that works every time.
Yep! Just like with Box 13 in 1948. Lol!
Yeah, I hear them when I listen to Chris Plante in the morning. I hoped he would win.
In a field of two, you’re exactly right. In a field of three or more candidates the plurality would rule in a simple, straight up vote.
This was a field of 11 candidates. That’s the key to understanding the benefits of rank choice voting.
Voters DID have a choice beyond their first choice. That’s the key!
It may be hard for you to understand. But it works perfectly.
Of the 11 candidates, at least five or six we’re perfectly qualified candidates and would likely beat Jennifer Wexton.
Just like others on this thread, I know that Hung Cao is an excellent choice and will likely win in November.
I saw him on warroom.,
This is the best news I’ve had all say, very happy he won !
kinsman redeemer, From your lips to God’s ears. I have read up on this guy and he is legit!
If you live in VA-10 now is the time for all hands on deck!
Cao was my #2 choice yesterday BUT he ran a superb race for a novice citizen legislator and myself and my family will re-engage GOP politics to get this christian warrior elected to congress!
I found out the Mrs. has already donated $100 sheckles to his campaign today.
Abort Wexton!
I am not happy about the political situation it’s not my district but I would dislike it if I lived there and object to it.
I bet you would "write" on your blog about it.
That'll fix 'em!
Thank her for me.
Hung got 41% of the #1 votes in the first round.
In a field of eleven, that’s pretty remarkable.
Now, we get to work!
