I’m sure the tyrannical lockdowns had nothing to do with the turnout.

“Burning coal seams in China (some natural, most due to their mining incompetence) put out more “greenhouse gases” each year than the entire output of USA cars and trucks.”

One of my favorite ground truths...

If a “conservative” government goes full blown Soviet lockdown and forced vax, why should voters turn out and vote for them?

Our republican party would be seen as “far right” anywhere else. MAGA wing would be called “nazi”.

Wrong. The Liberals have lost seats and very prominent seats, to independents funded by a climate change warrior group.
Liberal in Oz and liberal in America mean two different things. The Liberal party is generally associated with smaller or at least static government size wise and private enterprise and some conservatism on hot button social issues. In the U.S liberal is the complete opposite

Definetly an anti incumbent swing. Mixed in with chardonnay socialist feel goodism. Kooyong won’t be overrun by mmore 3rd world boaters, but western Sydney and north Melbourne will be.

That would be my first thought as well. Are the replacements going to do anything differently on that issue?

Australian voters have delivered a sharp rebuke to the center-right government, ending nine years of conservative rule, in favor of the center-left opposition that promised stronger action on climate change.

I don't know anything about Aussie politics since George W was president and the Aussie PM was a good ally. But I'm guessing there's not a roo's difference between the center-right and the center-left, and the crowing of the climate changers is greatly exaggerated. And just how would climate change (if it exists) effect The Outback?!

...so Voters think Government can change the climate ,LOL

LOL indeed. Around here they can't even maintain the roads or provide effective schools, but the government can change the climate?! Ugh....

So, are Aussies stupid, or is their voting process as “legitimate” as ours?

"So what? Australia is not really a country anyway. It's a former colony founded by convicts from Great Britain."

The reason England had to send convicts to Australia is because the place they were sending most of their convicts to before that put a stop to it. We call it the American Revolution. LOL

Exactly and this should be a warning to Boris Johnson’s Government in the UK.

All the climate change fanatics are going to run up against the backlash of higher prices for goods. Australia is very diesel dependent (diesel is already way up) due to long distance freighting by the trucking industry. We’ve seen this greenie/Labor marriage before. Give it 12mths and reality of blue collar discontent in labor heartlands will reign Labor in and skuttle too close an alliance with the poodle set in inner city green strongholds
