As they surrendered, the troops were taken prisoner by the Russians, and at least some were taken to a former penal colony. Others were said to be hospitalized.
Russia said the Azov commander was taken away from the plant in an armored vehicle.

They were going to use those 5k as a surprise.

They were already leaving before Zelensky ordered them to leave, as it took the Neocons some time to have their focus groups come up with a proper description of their surrender...but they did, finally, and they called it an ‘evacuation’ (albeit with no guns and white flags).

Russia is now being far more aggressive in Donbas with Putin out of the way and will likely wrap things up in that theater in a few days. The biggest problem with Putin is that he was too cautious.
