A major bank is facing calls to sack one of its top financiers over a climate change tirade he made where he said 'who cares if Miami is underwater' and 'nutjobs are always warning about end of world'.
Stuart Kirk, the global head of responsible investing at HSBC Asset Management, made an anti-climate change speech at a conference this week.
HSBC, one of the biggest banks in the world, was forced to condemn his comments he made at a conference on Thursday during a talk called Why Investors Need Not Worry About Climate Risk.
Mr Kirk said: 'I feel like it's getting a little bit out of hand, the constant reminder that we are doomed.
'There's always some nutjob telling me about the end of the world.
'What bothers me about this one is the amount of work these people make me do, the amount of regulation coming down the line.'
He added: 'Human beings have been fantastic at adapting to change, adapting to climate emergencies, and we will continue to do so.
'Who cares if Miami is six metres underwater in 100 years? Amsterdam has been six metres underwater for ages and that's a really nice place.
'I don't doubt the science but we do need to adapt.'

While HSBC refused to say whether Kirk was at risk of losing his job because of the comments, the bank’s asset management chief Nicolas Moreau said Kirk’s opinions ‘do not reflect the views of HSBC Asset Management nor HSBC Group in any way’.
He added: ‘HSBC regards climate change as one of the most serious emergencies facing the planet, and is committed to supporting its customers in their transition to net zero and a sustainable future.’
******* This is one cranky banker. I salute him for dropping this bomb.
The climate will always be changing ... but idiots on the Left will not.
If the seas are riding when will the rich start selling their beachfront homes?
He was on a roll till he he said he didn’t doubt the science...
Mr Kirk has been a banker for close to 30 years. He decried how many climate change regulations were making more work for him
He said: 'Human beings have been fantastic at adapting to change, adapting to climate emergencies, and we will continue to do so'
This man makes sense. Remind me to never do business with HSBC- horseshit and bullcrap Inc.
“He was on a roll till he he said he didn’t doubt the science...”
Of course he knows that this “climate science” is Gov’t funded bull. With thousands of crap conformist scientists sucking at the Gov’t tit (USA and Europe) or they would be flipping burgers
But he’s gotta throw that bone you mention. For whatever PR reasons.
Common sense speech shall not be tolerated.
OH MY GOD!!!! This BLASPHEMER dared question Earth Mother Gaia!!!!
Stone him to death!
We cannot tolerate such sin to go unpunished. Think of the children!
I’m with him. I don’t doubt science either. I doubt propaganda disguised as science.
Hire that man!
If you’re next to the ocean and you find your feet getting wet, walk up hill.
Do people believe that the current land mass is the way it has always been? Where I sit right now used to be on the bottom of “Lake Chicago”, aka Lake Michigan. There is a town over in Illinois called Blue Island because it is on a moraine that used to be an island in that lake. There are plenty of formerly-settled places on the Mississippi that are long gone because of the river’s course changes, for example, the old Illinois capital of Kaskaskia. Miami might be underwater in a hundred years, or at least eventually, no matter what anyone does now.
Science is all about evidence of the lack thereof.
I’m not impressed by the man made climate mongers.
Very plausible.
Plus, it's the cooling periods that cause people problems, not the warm period. From a spiritual perspective, the left is trying to make us hate a time in which we should be glad we live in. Much like the left wants us to hate living in the country much of the rest of the world wants to live in, the Modern Warm Period is a great time to be alive for things like crop yields being high, rain patterns being somewhat predictable, and deaths by plagues being down.
Funny! And I have never watched a full episode of Seinfeld.
