A major bank is facing calls to sack one of its top financiers over a climate change tirade he made where he said 'who cares if Miami is underwater' and 'nutjobs are always warning about end of world'.
Stuart Kirk, the global head of responsible investing at HSBC Asset Management, made an anti-climate change speech at a conference this week.
HSBC, one of the biggest banks in the world, was forced to condemn his comments he made at a conference on Thursday during a talk called Why Investors Need Not Worry About Climate Risk.
Mr Kirk said: 'I feel like it's getting a little bit out of hand, the constant reminder that we are doomed.
'There's always some nutjob telling me about the end of the world.
'What bothers me about this one is the amount of work these people make me do, the amount of regulation coming down the line.'
He added: 'Human beings have been fantastic at adapting to change, adapting to climate emergencies, and we will continue to do so.
'Who cares if Miami is six metres underwater in 100 years? Amsterdam has been six metres underwater for ages and that's a really nice place.
'I don't doubt the science but we do need to adapt.'

He’s absolutely right. The climate has been changing since the earth formed, and it’ll keep changing. I don’t care if it’s man made or natural, it doesn’t matter. There’s not a single building in Miami that was built to last 100 years, everything there will be replaced by then. Build the next one 50’ further inland.
One wonders how they are going to “support” customers as they “transition”.
No coal, no gasoline, no diesel, no natural gas. This is all BS. I guess their customers can beat their laundry out with a stick down by the river. But HSBC will be there for them, or something.
I agree one hundred per cent. Does he run the bank well? Make money for his shareholders? His political views don't matter.
Even funnier when you know the context!
Very true. Crops don’t grow too good in the cold and people huddling indoors is a good way to spread he’s.
Witness the Black plague.

They shouldn’t have built on a sandbar anyways.
Want to know how I know it’s all a bunch of crap?
If it was true they wouldn’t be building on the beach.
Same with Covid, the border would’ve had the 82nd airborne on it with shoot to kill orders.
I agree. Who the hell cares about ANY democrat city. /spit
>>Plus, it’s the cooling periods that cause people problems, not the warm period.<<
Warm climate means more ocean evaporation and more rain for crops.
Warm climate means longer growing seasons, and that we can grow crops further north.
>> Science is all about evidence of the lack thereof.
Evidence about the lack of evidence... I had a funning feeling that was the case. ‘or’ not... lol
Sorry, meant “or the lack thereof”
Humanity could work around “climate change” even if it were “real” without pillaging anyone’s freedoms, manhood, or wealth. The earth’s crust has enough uranium to last a thousand generations if used in breeder reactors. Nuclear fission can replace coal and natural gas in power plants. “Greenhouse gases” from electric utilities would thus fall to zero. Atomic reactors can even yield hydrocarbon fuels from ocean water. Nuclear energy can desalinate sea water for irrigation if the deserts do expand. Coastal communities at risk of flooding can be rebuilt as floating cities with today’s technology. This has already been seriously considered for New Orleans, which really is sinking. Cities can be built underground or under the ocean as well. Aluminum chaff, which reflects solar energy, can be launched into orbit and make the world cooler. But none of that is even necessary. The elites themselves fail to take “climate change” seriously, so why should we? B. Hussein Obama and his “wife” recently bought a mansion just barely above sea level. The banksters, corporate raiders, cyber billionaires, movie stars, politicians, professional athletes, and singers who demand us mere commoners ride bicycles and eat soy still fly on private jets that burn more fuel in one flight than a working person does in a year!
PLus you have to understand Constanta was playing “The Opposite” of his usual self, since his usual doesn’t work.
I will say the same.
Of course. Was just having fun.
That’s amazing.
There's always some nutjob telling me about the end of the world.
We have plenty of those around here, although the COVID stooges have mostly stopped posting the "wear the d***** mask" BS, or maybe they've died in the Plannedemic.
Hi.
Between you and me, everything east of the Palmetto Exp is under water every summer from thunderstorms.
And an occasional hurricane.
5.56mm
Miami is a sucker to real estate developers.
Thousands of Miami buildings located adjacent to various waterways will be swamped by a dead on or near hurricane of say 3+. Like suckers else where who bought property in a known flood zone, thousands of Miami residents bought property in a hurricanes tidal zone
