Someone above noted Russian abortion rate is too high for conservative support.

As of 2019, Russian abortion total was 621,000. Total population is 146 million and falling. This is a rate of
621K/146M = 0.0043 per person but that’s largely silly since it should be limited to women of child bearing age. But that’s the easiest number.

Abortion reporting in the US is profoundly uneven. The latest count from CDC is 800K, and explicitly excludes California, Maryland and New Hampshire. Additionally, DC and New Jersey do not require reporting, but some counties do. Also, all other states comply in an entirely arbitrary way. CDC says the count is certain to be an undercount by a large amount because California’s rate is very high in surveys. The US has a 330M population. More than 2X Russia, so the 800K count would have to rise to more than 1.3 million to be more abortions than Russia. Given Calif, it’s possible.

I had never looked at this before. I did not know the US essentially refuses to tabulate this data.
