FROM THE GUARDIAN:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/16/putin-involved-russia-ukraine-war-western-sources

[EXCERPT]

Vladimir Putin has become so personally involved in the Ukraine war that he is making operational and tactical decisions “at the level of a colonel or brigadier”, according to western military sources.

The Russian president is helping determine the movement of forces in the Donbas, they added, where last week the invaders suffered a bloody defeat as they tried on multiple occasions to cross a strategic river in the east of Ukraine.

The sources added that Putin is still working closely with Gen Valery Gerasimov, the commander of the Russian armed forces, in contrast to claims made by Ukraine last week that the military chief had been sidelined.

“We think Putin and Gerasimov are involved in tactical decision making at a level we would normally expect to be taken by a colonel or a brigadier,” the military source said, referring to the ongoing battle in the east of Ukraine.

I am sure the Taliban will be more than willing to trade the Ruskies some of the billions of dollars of military equipment we left behind for oil, gas or wheat.

Did that Russian general leave behind millions of dollars of perfectly good equipment? If not, Milley is still at the top of the incompetency list.

Did any Russian general comment on Milley’s Afghan withdrawal?

I think this river crossing was just a diversion.

I guess the author never heard of the Battle of Antietam. Casualties were a lot more (and in a single day). Plus, that was before the advent of automatic weapons.

This was like the Battle of San Jacinto.

Just a complete whooping unheard of since WWI.

There is much more to the story. Crossing a river in a hostile environment is not an unusual military necessity. Most armies routinely train for such missions. However what is new is the type of weapons and technology being deployed to resist such crossings. Drones, positioning technology, artillery guidance systems and smart munitions now make the procedure far more hazardous and unlikely to succeed. Suspect the officer in charge of the crossing was targeted and killed early. The tanks bunched and the rest followed. Its a whole new military reality. If history is a guide many young soldiers will die before the generals in all the world’s armies come to understand and change tactics.

The Russians took a risk to move a battalion in behind the enemy. That’s a risk you take in war, to get tactical advantage. The problem isn’t that this is a bad tactic, the problem is that drones and satellites can see everything. Old tactics don’t work in the new battlefield, and old equipment doesn’t project power like it did 50 years ago.

There is tons to learn from the Ukraine conflict, we should be prepared to learn from it. I question the intelligence of a modern military commander who doesn’t see that, more than the person who tried a bold tactical move that failed.

Current Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was a disaster of a General in Iraq - it was under Austin that soldiers had to get permission from HQ to return fire at the enemy. Even if our Troops were being attacked.

The only war Ukraine is winning and the only proxy war we're winning is the propaganda war.

Claiming otherwise is as delusional as being a Christian and claiming the neo-Nazis fighting for Ukraine are the good guys.

It's all a sickening delusional.

Notice how those backing this debacle are unifying between known enemies of conservatives and MAGA — the Biden regime and Miley.

Probably much like the way Jimmy Carter feels now that PINO Joe is in the White House.
