Shanghai on Tuesday announced it had reached “zero-Covid at the community level” status, but residents reportedly still feared that the city’s strict lockdown could continue.
Health officials in the global financial hub announced on Tuesday that “zero Covid” status had been reached, meaning no cases were detected outside of designated quarantine facilities or neighborhoods with the most severe lockdowns, according to CNN.

I bet there is a great deal that we still do not know in terms of how COVID really affected that country.
They have crushed the freedom out of their people with the jack-boot of total fanatical military control, but at least no one has the sniffles anymore.
I want to see bidet order the total lockdown of new york sh*tty to get to zero covid. That would be high class entertainment.
This isn’t about Covid. It’s about economics. Shanghai is a big port city, and China’s leaders are keeping it shut down so that no exports to the Western countries happens, thus screwing up the supply and distribution to the U.S. and EU of goods, harming our economies. It’s China’s way of helping Russia and sticking it to us, as they consider us their enemy.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they shut down other port cities too, allegedly because of Covid as an excuse. China could care less if millions of their own populace starve or die. It’s their way of culling an overly large herd.
Ask a different question:
Why with the current mild strain, known economic damage from lockdowns and impossibility to really keep the virus at zero (it broke into the North Korea) do the Chinese still play this game?
Is this because they are simply dumb?
Or is it because it is a real nice way to shut down the trade a bit and create more shortages in the enemy land? — with perfect deniability provided by the virus.
I think the philosophy of the CCP is “the only way to be sure is to nuke ourselves from space!”
