One of Putin's top propagandists has declared Russia's offensive in the Donbas region has failed as incredible pictures show the inside of the steel plant at Azovstal which has been under siege for much of the war.
Russian intelligence officer and commander Igor Girkin took to his Telegram channel to summarise the situation for Russian forces in Ukraine and said their intention was 'so obvious' that Ukraine Armed Forces have been able to resist.

General conclusion:
I must state with regret that the operation to defeat the enemy's Donetsk grouping, widely publicized in late April-early May, FAIL. For more than two weeks of fierce fighting (which cost both sides very heavy losses), only tactical successes were achieved. Not a single large settlement was liberated (the exception is the city of Rubezhnoye, but the battles for it began before the offensive began). Probably, certain tactical successes will still be achieved before the moment when the enemy goes over to the counteroffensive. But it is already clear that Donbass will not be fully liberated before the beginning of summer. Probably, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not even be thrown back from the suburbs of Donetsk.
And I cannot say that this result is unexpected for me. Vice versa. The art of war requires its adherents to strike where the enemy least expects them. In our case, the intention of the Russian command was so obvious, the terrain was so beneficial for the defending side, and the balance of forces was almost equal on both sides, that only ... our General Staff could count on decisive success.
At the moment, our troops are drawn into exhausting offensive battles, continuing (as I have already noted) "to play by the rules proposed by the enemy." And the point is not only and not so much in individual examples of "outstanding bungling" (such as forcing S. Donets), but in the fact that the losses incurred in daily offensive battles (not ending in the defeat of the enemy) cannot be quickly compensated by trained replacements. While the enemy continues to frantically prepare its strategic reserves. And where he will deliver his blows, when our troops finally "run out of steam" - no one knows (although this can also be predicted, but I will not do this publicly ... until I do). What should be done in the current situation, when it became CLEAR THAT OUR TROOPS CANNOT DEAL EVEN LIMITED DAMAGE TO THE ENEMY IN A FIELD BATTLE, and when it is NECESSARY TO PREPARE FOR A PROTRACTED HEAVY LARGE-SCALE WAR - I have written and said more than once. So far, only "a good friend of all Urgants" has responded and stated that nothing of this will be done ... Well, well ..."
I don't have Telegram installed, and don't know how to link to a specific telegram post. So to find this, you'll have to get Telegram or dig through his stream. The important point is, Daily Mail's reporting on what he said is accurate. He said the Russian operations in Donetsk are failing.
Girkin, more than anyone else on the Russian side, would be in a position to know.
.
If Gurkin says so then it is probably true. But not until Alex Jines weighted in.
They’ll get a bit more truthful AFTER the $40B has passed Congress.
But not until Alex Jines weighted in.... You just had to throw that in, didn't you? ;)
Maybe, until then they should really consider renaming themselves The Daily Propaganda.
Ukrainian tanks are now on the outskirts of Moscow.
I’m sure that is why Austin is calling Shoigu asking for a ceasefire since the winning side always calls the losing side to request a ceasefire. The reality is that 90% of the stuff coming out about the war is outright B.S. and you probably can’t trust the other 10%.
More DailyMail globalist horse$hit.
If Igor wasn’t such a jerk in 2014 then Mariupol and the rest of the Southeast could be parts of DNR back then without a lot bloodshed.
First, Austin called Shoigu for a cease fire because he is the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Calling to request a cease fire and negotiations is expected of him for diplomatic reasons.
Second, that claim that requesting a cease fire is evidence Ukraine is losing started with Gonzalo Lira. I go over his online history here. A failed pick up artist and dating coach is not my first choice for informed commentary on international diplomacy.
Third, Igor Girkin has been Moscow's top man and separatist leader in Eastern Ukraine for over eight years. He is not some Daily Mail headline writer. For someone in his position, with his record, to publicly post that Russia's Donetsk operations are in trouble has real meaning.
#9. Which is why I posted what Igor Girkin wrote directly from his own Telegram Channel and provide a translation.
Reporting accusations from Ukraine (which this article has) or from Russia is gossip at best or propaganda at worst.
Don’t feed the MSM trolls as they are libtards or use libtard tactics.
Don’t become a liberal.
#13. Please read my comments #1 and #12.
There is no reliable information proving that Girkin was acting on behalf of Russia. The fact that he is a retired Russian officer proves nothing. I generally think that Putin wasn’t particularly fond of the idea of “Russian world” nine years ago, thinking it is a right-wing conspiracy threatening his power.
The future development and current criticism from Girkin proves that it is likely the case and Girkin was likely a maverick who was in a sense right but not persistent enough to have his way to gain influence and full government support in Russia.
And in other news, the Azov Brigade has surrendered in Mariupol and Russia has now consolidated its land bridge to the Crimean Peninsula and Russia and now controls the Sea of Azov.
#17. Then post it on its own thread.
I’ve observed.
