Finish President Sauli Niinisto claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s responded "calmly" when told that Finland would apply for NATO membership.

"Altogether the discussion was very good," Niinisto said on "State of the Union" on Sunday. "I say calm and cool, and he did not repeat those threats he had earlier, and his people had been telling that is that if Finland joins – that means some kind of contra steps, military contra steps, whatever that meant – but he didn't repeat it now."

Putin: You are finished.

Niniisto: Yes, I’m Finnish. I’m glad we agree.

I would send in the Prime Minister. She's much more easy on the eyes. And we know Putin likes women.

Theres nothing he can do about it, and if it weren’t for his military debacle, probably one of the worst in history, it wouldn’t even be happening.

So tell me this who’s going to replace him? Russians they have a very strong nationalistic sense ,in other words ,they see Russia motherland and their connection to their land has been strong they see it as under attack by the west.I think you’re gonna find if Putin steps down you’re gonna end up with something worse and it’s gonna be unknown to. Thanks US intelligence but they flap their gums anyway thinking they know. This country is filled with people who hate their own land how do you think you’re gonna get behind the stove people behind you for a big bore you know a lot of people think World War II but guess what we moved all our manufacturing overseas because of government regulation that can’t be done now.

He’s calm because he knows NATO is the United States, and that the other members haven’t had a military in years (much like Russia though)

Putin isn’t stupid, there’s no reason to do much now since his forces already have their hands full. So he will just voice disapproval and imply some vague threats. But let NATO start deploying missile bases there and you will see his reaction.

Well, we can't be too sure about that.

Ex-KGB spy was killed because he claimed Putin was a pedophile

Finland's troops are acknowledged as being one of the best in the world. A Russian invasion of Finland would result in hundreds of thousands of Russian deaths.

Did someone make an offer to Russia if they could force Non-NATO European countries to join NATO?

Because invading a neighbor will predictably get your smaller neighbors to join together to defend against you.

So NATO gets larger. Russia gets a boost economically. And a whole bunch of information went up in smoke in Ukraine.

Granted it is wasteful of human lives sort of plan but that has never been a real concern in Russia.

I'm certainly no Putin booster but I fear you are correct.

The likely outcome of this war is an even more militant, nationalistic and fascist Russian state.

The best historical analogy is Russia post Russo-Japanese war. With massive assistance from France, Russia re-armed, built a lot of new railway infrastructure to intimidate Germany and sought a new playground for imperial competition in the Balkans.

If China reprises this role, Russia may do the same.

Putin may be calm because he’s counting on his friend Erdogan to keep Finland from joining NATO.

”A Russian invasion of Finland would result in hundreds of thousands of Russian deaths.”

Just like the last time they invaded Finland.

“We Will BURY You!!”....Oops, wrong speech.
This is for Putin today, not Krurushchev in 1956.
