Kathy Barnette, a Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, has a social media history packed with anti-Muslim and anti-LGBTQ sentiments, as well as conspiracy theories about former President Obama.

Driving the news: Former President Donald Trump warned Republicans Thursday that Barnette's history will preclude her from winning a general election in Pennsylvania. Trump has endorsed celebrity TV doctor Mehmet Oz in the race.

Worth noting: Barnette talked derogatorily about Muslims, Islam and Obama in speeches as well, CNN reports.

Independents don’t like controversy. They’re not going to go for “pedophilia is a cornerstone of Islam” tweets.
Again, I’m in the red part of PA and have seen many signs along the lines of “hate has no home here.” This ‘bigotry’ issue has been weaponized.
There are probably some okay ones out there, but I’ve never met one. I sure wouldn’t turn my back on one...

No. If I thought neither of those guys had a chance in November, I would not spend time talking about this issue.
Oz and McCormick are milquetoast entities. Not my speed. But I think they have a better chance to win in November.

Because Trump just endorsed Mastriano, I think Mastriano endorsing Barnette could help her.
I’m not sure it’ll help her much, though, because the two of them have already been linked for some time. So people already knew Mastriano supported her.

You think all of those 500k are liberals? I know my grandparents are D but they voted for Trump. So did most of my D relatives and they hate Wolf... Just because some is a D, it doesn’t mean they’ll vote liberal.

Kathy is the real deal, the other is an Oprah stooge and the other is a RINO. If it was Oz/McCormick versus Conner Lamb. Conner Lamb (a radical) will win. Kathy will win the seat.
Barnette did better than Trump in her district in 2020 and better than the only previous Republican had done in it (before it was created via redistricting).

Kathy Barnette is an activist first and foremost - her rise reveals this. Her comments on twitter as well. I plain just don’t like her nor how she plays on peoples emotions all the time.
She has zip zero achievements that set her apart esepcially since she’s 50 with no great accomplishments or even minor ones in the political arena.
The more I check her out - what she actually says - the more I’m convinced if she gets in office she’s not going to stand for what she’s trying to project now that she would. Further i think sh’s worse than just “green” .
So when you say she’s the “real deal” that simply isn’t true - better you say she’s spewing out what you want to hear.
What did she accomplish for her district??????

What have all the Red Senators been doing over the past 5 and a half years, on behalf of populist, MAGA voters? Pretty much nothing, except stabbing us in the back, repeatedly.
At this point, I’m far from alone in my sentiment that I’d rather see the Democrats win all 100 Senate seats, and let the American people suffer the consequences, rather than nominate one more piece of RINO garbage, like 98% of the current GOP Senate.
