Kathy Barnette tweets targeted Muslims, LGBTQ people and Obama

Kathy Barnette, a Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, has a social media history packed with anti-Muslim and anti-LGBTQ sentiments, as well as conspiracy theories about former President Obama.

Driving the news: Former President Donald Trump warned Republicans Thursday that Barnette's history will preclude her from winning a general election in Pennsylvania. Trump has endorsed celebrity TV doctor Mehmet Oz in the race.

In one of the tweets, Barnette said "pedophilia is a cornerstone of Islam."

Worth noting: Barnette talked derogatorily about Muslims, Islam and Obama in speeches as well, CNN reports.

Do you think Barnette would flame out in a general election like previous GOP senate primary winners Roy Moore, Sharon Angle or Christine O’Donnell did in the past?

Do you think Barnette would lose the 2022 general election by 19 points as she did in her 2020 general election?

Do you think Barnette’s “Joy Reid” defense of her old remarks would work in the 2022 general elections?

Many things to think about, for Tuesday and beyond.

I’m in a red part of PA and people here aren’t sold on Barnette and don’t like the old statements/tweets.

Yes, the economy is for sure the most important thing.

But in a +500K Dem state and with the Dems hitting her hard, Barnette can lose in November. Particularly to Fetterman.

I’m in Red Land. Still, I have seen the “hate has no home here” signs. People here have been caught up in this “no hate” stuff. It can hurt the GOP in November.

I don’t want to see another O’Donnell, Angle or Moore.

If Roy Moore can lose in Alabama, a Republican can lose in PA.

We’ve seen Barnette run before. It didn’t work out well.

It's a heavily Democrat, gerrymandered district. She outpolled the prior GOP nominee and outpolled Trump in the district. But don't let little inconveninet facts like that get in the way of your smear campaign.

I fully expect them both to fall in the cheat-to-win camp like the liberal WEF stooges they are. Barnette got wiped out in the 2020 general election.

I may be from California, on the other side of the country, but from what I know about this race, it seems Kathy is the best choice. The alternatives are a Turkish citizen and a Muslim with a questionable track record on vital issues and a Bushite.

That’s not enough against someone like Fetterman in 2022.

He’s going to be a tough foe.

There is no smear campaign. Someone saying in 2017 that Roy Moore would have trouble in the Alabama general election wasn’t “smearing” him. They were trying to sound a warning.
