Don’t forget also that Yanukovych spent most of 2012 and 2913 working on a joint Free Trade Association agreement with the EU - with overwhelming majority support across all mainstream parties in government - and he single handedly mothballed it after a meeting with Putin on 17th December 2013.
The seal ge signed in Moscow without even consulting his own party let alone parliament was a bit like Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac. 6 months tops of a sub-prime bailout with clauses to hand effective control of ALL Ukraine’s debts to Russia. Foreclosure guaranteed a hostile takeover by the Kremlin.
In short Yanukovych took a massive bribe to bankrupt Ukraine in a way that contractually obliged Russia to take over.
Whrn people talk about Yanukovych being “deposed”they forhet he was impeached first. And, many of the MPs who’d supported him only 12 months earlier voted Guilty.
To orovd he could still be President he green lit the invasion of Crimea and ordered the Ukrainian defences not to stand in their way.
If even a scale of high treason as big as that’s not good grounds for impeachment and an arrest warrant, then nothing is.
Sorry for the typos, i’m on a bumpy train.
