Police said the alleged incident happened more than six months ago

A San Jose police officer has been placed on leave over an allegation that he traded a meth pipe to a woman in exchange for information, according to authorities.

San Jose Police Department Sgt. Christian Camarillo confirmed the incident is under investigation. He didn’t reveal the officer’s name or any details about the allegation, citing a personnel matter, but said the alleged incident occurred more than six months ago. The officer has been on administrative leave since December.

The news comes as the department continues to grapple with a series of controversies in recent weeks. Last week, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that San Jose police Officer De’Jon Packer, who was found dead in his Milpitas home on March 13, died from a fentanyl overdose. A coroner’s report revealed that he also had alcohol and marijuana in his system.

An off-duty San Jose police officer was arrested Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol before a two-car collision in Hayward. The department confirmed it was investigating the incident but the officer hadn’t been placed on leave as of Tuesday morning.

‘There’s a lot of trauma in that’ — mistrust in SJSU, CSU administration lingers after Scott Shaw ordeal San Jose authorities confirmed last week that they were investigating a police officer for allegedly being under the influence of alcohol while on duty — and working the case of an abducted three-month-old baby. The child was found safe less than 24 hours later.

Maybe I’m looking at this the wrong way, but this doesn’t bother me. She probably is going to smoke meth anyway. Its not like he’s giving her meth. If the information is valuable, give her the nicest meth pipe you can find.

What’s the difference between trading a meth pipe for information and passing out free needles for junkies, other than the government gets *nothing* from the junkies?

I'm kinda with you on this. He finds the pipe in a search of a larger crime.... "You can have this back if you give me some info". Don't know if that's how it actually went down but it would be fine by me.

I don’t see this as a big deal, and to complain about an Officer drink while on duty, WHO CARES, here in California 90% of the Judges are Drunk while on the Bench, and I would bet 90% of the legislature is too.
