NC GOP supporting Budd, extreme right
reflector.com ^ | 5/12/22 | Alexander H. Jones

That the North Carolina Republican party establishment would unite behind Congressman Ted Budd is unexpectedly revealing. While never a scourge of the big boys on Hillsborough Street, neither was Ted Budd the obvious choice for electability-minded GOP elites. After all, the only Republican governor of North Carolina in the last 30 years, Pat McCrory, was also running in the primary. If McCrory cannot command the support of people who were elated when his victory brought them a precious four years of one-party control, something very radical has transformed the NCGOP.

snip

Despite their similarities, Ted Budd has never been a Ted Cruz or a Josh Hawley. He’s more like a North Carolina version of former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint: a conservative extremist well-liked by the establishment in spite of his ideological radicalism. The Republican establishment in Raleigh is quite comfortable with the most extreme elements of the national GOP. Faced with the only Republican to win our state’s governor’s chair in a generation and a half, the NCGOP’s establishment chose instead to support a man — Budd — who brandishes monster trucks, barbed-wire fences and loads of guns in his campaign iconography.

North Carolina establishment Republicans have ratified their alliance with the radical right. Where once there was a buffer between Raleigh insiders and the grassroots Jesse-crats, now each faction works hand-in-hand to advance their shared mission of repealing the twentieth century. This alignment of forces has served Republicans well over the last decade, with super-high turnout allowing Republicans to stay just ahead of the state’s changing demographics (for now).

The North Carolina Republican Party has become wholly an extremist faction. Jim Holshouser weeps and Jesse Helms smiles.

This is a progressive author. And he is SOOO pissed that NC Republicans aren't falling for the "moderate" Republican game anymore.

Ted Budd will take the primary next Tuesday, will win in November and will replace the odious and corrupt Richard Burr next January.

Recent polls show Budd is WAY, WAY, WAAAAYYYYY more electable than McRory. +7 vs the Dems as opposed to -6.

As a personal friend of Ted Budd and his family i can honestly say that he is an extremist. He is just a common sense individual who wants whats best for this country, its people and NC. He is not in the mold of Helms as the author would imply but rather is pragmatic, commonsense and steadfast in his views and morality.
He has my vote hands down. The only other candidate I would have considered was Walker since I know his family and have met him a few times,

Go Ted Budd!!!!!!!!!!

I will be voting for him in the primary on the 17th.
I am in the process of reviewing the other candidates on the R primary ballot.

Any insight on the following, from anyone, would be appreciated.

US House of Reps. District 4 (am leaning toward Courtney Geels)

NC Supreme Court Associate Justice - Seat 5

NC Court of Appeals Judge - Seat 9

NC Court of Appeals Judge - Seat 11

NC State Senate District 18

We also have a sheriff election and for the first time that I can remember we have republicans to choose from in the primary. I don’t think this should be a political position since LE is supposed to serve EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY without prejudice. Unfortunately our own US DOJ has proven that is a fairy tale.

Not in the mold of Jesse Helms?? And you write that as if it would be bad if he were. I used to say and still believe that NO congress person should have had to take and pass a course on how to legislate like Jesse Helms, before being allowed to be a congress person.

Jesse Helms was no racist, dim-0s painted him as one to their own downfall when running against him because Jesse probably got more votes from dim-0s who thought he was just as racist as they were, cause the dim-0 party said so.

Jesse won because racist dim-0s voted for him.

I wrote that a little wrong. Any congress person SHOULD HAVE to take and pass a course to legislate like Jesse did.

An Extreme Conservative is someone who puts AMERICA first, while a Conservative is someone who pretends to put America First while really putting China and war first...

If this from the Greenville Reflector; that paper has been a mouthpiece for the democrats for many, many years. I lived in the area 70 years ago and it was true then.

Too bad they re-elected Amnesty Senator Tillis in 2020.

He and Cornyn are putting their Amnesty Gang back together.

Be sure to re-elect Amnesty Senators Hoeven and Rubio, so they can assist the Democrats to a permanent majority with amnesty for illegal aliens...../s
