China is “working hard” to be in a position to take over a nation on Australia’s doorstep within years, top US intelligence officials havTaiwan is facing an “acute” threat from China within the next eight years as Beijing ramps up its military to enable the nation to seize control – even if the US intervenes.
That’s according to several top American intelligence officials, who have sounded the alarm over the renewed risk posed by China in the region after years of rising tensions.
‘Acute’ threat
During a disturbing testimony to the Senate on Tuesday, the US director of national intelligence, Avril Haines, said Taiwan now faced an “acute” threat from China between the present day and 2030.
And she said while authorities would rather take Taiwan without force, China was actively building up its military to allow it to use that option if needed.e warned.

China has no gratitude for the role Australia played in WW2 beating back the Japanese empire that was routinely killing Chinese civilians (5 to 10 million).

So that's why we need to start a war with Russia and force them into an alliance with China! Makes perfect sense!

I would suggest that the Aussie govt set up their own military bases on the Solomon Islands.

Chinese leaders have never valued the lives of their people. They are as expendable as rotten grains of rice. Their own lives; well that’s different.
If countries being extorted by China’s belt and road initiatives told China to ‘F’ off. There is nothing China could really do; especially if those countries worked together.
Communist China is falling apart at the seams. Applies to society, economy, military, and failing currency. They can’t help Russia because they don’t have any money available to do it. The military is probably only getting the bare minimum in rations and equipment, which is probably similar in operational readiness as the Rusdian military.
Those paint brushes probably only cost 10 cents.
