Republicans make final push for Kemp in Georgia, bucking Trump

Republican luminaries and groups in Georgia and across the country are making one final push to ensure Gov. Brian Kemp fends off a challenge from former Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.), openly defying former President Trump in the state’s closely watched primary.

In recent weeks, Kemp has received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and is slated to attend a fundraiser alongside former President George W. Bush. He’s also been the beneficiary of some $5 million in spending by the Republican Governors Association, which has been running ads for months touting his record in office.

The outside help comes as polling shows that Kemp may have one of the best shots in the country at taking down a Trump-endorsed candidate in a state that has haunted the former president since 2020. While Trump has demonstrated the propensity to pick winners and losers in GOP primaries, the contest in Georgia may end up underscoring the limits of that ability.

We’ll see if Republican voters show up for Kemp in November. The final chapter has not been written.

...lots of Chinese money backing Kemp, as well as the cash back from the $100 MM price of Dominion machines! Why do conservatives expect a different outcome?.... ymmv

Oh my! How “conservative” can he get?

“Kemp signs are 20 x 1 Perdue.”

The Establishment is making a major push (dumping millions of dollars) and defending the steal. Kemp gave us Biden, Democratic Senate, Stagflation, and the destruction of the American Way.

Yet Freepers are voting for him too. Rewarding a modern day Benedict Arnold.

Agree, even in north GA, where Trump was/is very popular.

I believe the red voters here in GA recognize the goal is to keep Abrams out of office.

Safeguards were added to the voting process, so fraud will be tougher, even though metro Atlanta counties always find a way to submit thousands of 10 PM votes. (our polls close at 7, and as a COMPETENT poll worker, I can assure you that COMPETENT poll workers can have all vote tallies and records submitted by 8 PM, with the polling site shut down and ready to pickup by 9:30). But then again, we are Hall County [north GA] not metro ATL.)

If Trump doesn’t prevail in the primary, will he spitefully turn the state over to Stacy — continuing a feud with Kemp that began when Kemp was fighting Fauci more vigorously than he was?

I'm a life member of the NRA, but their recent fundraising appeals have gone into the round file for precisely this kind of behavior.

Note to NRA: We don't have a 2nd amendment so Wayne LaPierre can live high on the hog in one of the most expensive parts of the country. We don't have a 2nd amendment so people can shoot Bambi, even though there are enough deer in Pennsylvania to require periodic harvesting. We have a 2nd amendment so our ruling class will be retrained in how they govern.

GA has become a GOP RINO State.

If a candidate other than Trump doesn’t get the nomination, the RINO establishment will spitefully conspire with Democrats to let them steal the next election?

Yep. That’s exactly what they did.

Push RINO’s out at all costs. We have to deal with the internal enemy before we can really come to grips with the external enemy.

Curious . . . you polls have to wait to get picked up? Here in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania (where we close an hour later), the precinct judge is required to drive the results to the courthouse.

We have paper ballots for backup (which also go to the courthouse), but the results tape from the scanner are printed in four copies-- two go to the courthouse, one gets posted at the polling location where anyone interested can go by and check, one goes home with the minority inspector. Any mail-in ballots must be reported before precinct results start arriving around 9 pm. So the opportunity for hanky-panky is very, very slim here.

Like the late Kathy Barnette phenomenon, the MAGA crowd should have gone with the genuine, but politically unpolished, Kandiss Taylor.

This is the election cycle of schoolboard moms and a real contrast to energize the base is what was needed.

Is Ruby Freeman and her daughter “counting” the ballots again?

Are Dominion machines “counting” the ballots again?

Exactly, what has he done to shore up fair elections and the integrity of the votes?

Trump doesn’t control his voters any more than Rush did, Many of them will not vote for Kemp in the general even if he urges them to.
