Ugh. Had the uncomfortable argument with the wife on Cultural Appropriation. She said her child camping group “appropriated” native culture when it used native themes for its group. She said you should get PERMISSION before borrowing from other cultures. I told her that was nonsense and by that argument I shouldn’t be listening to Jazz, which was created by African Americans.

My answer is to ask if Seiji Ozawa, YoYoMa, and Zubin Mehta were appropriating western culture and should also be banned.
