Terrifying video footage captured the moment the Ukrainian Bayraktar-TB2 drone annihilated the Russian Mi-8 transport helicopter on Snake Island. In the chilling black and white footage, human figures can be seen leaving the helicopter moments before it was blown up. The video was published by the Operational Command South.
They said: "We cannot stop doing this.
"We are driving the enemy out of every piece of our land, even from a small island, from the sea, and even from the air."
Meanwhile, another Ukrainian drone took out a Russian landing ship near Snake Island which had been supplying Vladimir Putin's troops with anti-aircraft missiles.
Ukraine released a video claiming to have destroyed the large Serna-type Russian ship in an air strike.
Ukrainian official Anton Gerashchenko later said: "Enemy units remaining on Snake Island remain without air cover and will be destroyed and burned out like cockroaches or locusts."
The attack comes just days after Russia lost two fast-attack Raptor crafts just off Snake Island following a devastating Ukrainian drone strike, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed.

There’s a ton of propaganda and lies coming from Ukraine and Russia. But not everything is a wag the dog production.
More likely that Russia is incompetent and was goaded into invading Ukraine due to US backchannel intelligence ops. The resulting miserable Russian invasion and US $upport of Ukraine is likely a money laundering scheme.
But, based on video evidence and reports I’ve been able to wade through, this one looks legit.

In fact the Russian military claims downing two Ukrainian fighters, three Mi-8s and at least 1 landing ship near the island. The helicopter on video is likely one of them.

I watch Flightradar24 throughout the day. There are a ton of surveillance flights over Poland and Romania every day, from us, NATO, Great Britain, and I’ve even seen an Italian jet doing figure 8s over Poland. At this very moment there is a U.S. Global Hawk drone flying over the middle of the black sea.

Fortunately there are many channels on Telegram that do a good job of providing useful “non-government controlled” information on the conflict.
I read about 25 of them from both sides of the conflict. Here is a link to the one I think does the best job in reporting and explaining in detail the military encounters, including successes and failures.

The events on Snake Island off the coast of Odessa are shrouded in the fog of war: in the scarce reports of the Ministry of Defense, there are only reports of destroyed UAVs, not a single military correspondent is on the spot, and Ukrainians constantly report wrecked ships and post videos of the injured “ Raptors” or “Cerne”.
▪️Now Bayraktar TB2 UAVs are working almost daily on the positions of the RF Armed Forces on the island . The ultimate goal is the landing of Ukrainian troops on the island : Mi-8 helicopters have been deployed to the Chervonoglinsky airfield in Odessa, ready to transfer personnel on command.
▪️American M777 howitzers with 155-mm M982 Excalibur guided active rockets were deployed to the Zatoka area . They will have to work at almost the maximum range - 60 km. But howitzers can also work on Russian positions on the island itself, and on the grouping of ships around it.
▪️Target designation and reconnaissance is provided by American reconnaissance aircraft, which practically do not leave the area of the mission.
Yesterday, through the collective efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO allies, the Tor air defense system on the island was partially disabled. After that, the Ukrainian Air Force tried to make a massive raid on the island: in addition to unmanned aircraft, they attracted at least two pairs of Su-24 and Su-27 tactical aircraft .
The ship’s air defense systems and fighters worked out by air: two Bayraktar TB2 UAVs and one aircraft were shot down . The rest got away.
Why Serpentine?
The island is strategically important not only because of its location near the southern borders of Odessa. Without control over Serpentine, it will be much more difficult to conduct a potentially naval amphibious operation on the Ukrainian coast.
And for Ukraine and the allies, the restoration of control over the island is an opportunity to deploy stationary radar stations, control the air and sea space around Odessa and begin an operation to unblock it. This is important for the supply of weapons and military equipment from the West by sea.
No matter how much we make fun of the “mosquito fleet”, but it exists. And it is foolish to underestimate it - especially when all target designation and intelligence are provided by allies from the NATO bloc.
And also Serpentine is a symbol. Remember about the “dead defenders” of the island, who later turned out to be alive? Now imagine that the Ukrainians will recapture the island and begin to inflate the story of a heroic deed, recaptured lines and revenge for the fallen and prisoners?
Therefore, one should not assume that the grouping of the Russian Navy in the Black Sea “does nothing” near Odessa. This is a very important sector of the front. And the intensity of the fighting there will only increase.

Yesterday, the Tor air defense system was disabled on the island, which gave Ukrainians a sense of false superiority. Yesterday it didn’t reach the landing operation - only tactics flew and carried out reconnaissance in battle.
But today the Armed Forces of Ukraine made this attempt . And they miscalculated. To lose not only the landing craft, but also three helicopters with landing troops, as well as cover aircraft, is a lot of effort.
